What are RSUs (Restricted Stock Units)?

Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) are a form of compensation offered by employers to employees in the form of company shares. RSUs are granted with a vesting schedule, meaning employees must meet certain conditions—such as staying with the company for a set period—before they own the shares. Once vested, RSUs are considered income and are subject to taxation. Employees typically receive the shares or their cash equivalent after the vesting period, providing an incentive to remain with the company.
