Job Summary:

Red Rocks Community College is seeking part-time Accounting Instructors to teach accounting courses on an ongoing basis, depending on department need, enrollment, and budget. RRCC prepares students to launch or advance careers in accounting, business, finance, and related fields by developing the knowledge, technical skills, and professional judgment needed in todayโ€™s workplace.

Part-time Accounting Instructors provide instructional duties for the College in their respective areas of expertise. Responsibilities include instruction, student assessment, timely feedback, communication with students, and other related instructional duties. Instructional delivery may include face-to-face, hybrid, online, remote, or other approved instructional formats. Courses may be offered during the day, evening, or weekend.

The instructor should demonstrate patience, professionalism, clear expectations for student work, and a commitment to student learning. The instructor must be able to support students with varied levels of academic preparation, workplace experience, and confidence with quantitative material. The instructor should also be able to connect accounting concepts to practical workplace applications.

This position reports to the department chair within the discipline and does not supervise other employees. Occasional meetings, trainings, or course preparation responsibilities may occur outside of scheduled class time. The finalist must be willing to make Colorado their primary workplace, including for online classes. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt position and may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need.

This is an open and continuous part-time instructor posting intended to build and maintain a qualified pool of Accounting instructors. Teaching assignments are based on qualifications, department need, enrollment, and budget. Candidates selected for further consideration will be contacted.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

โ€ข Excellent oral, written, and listening skills, including timely and professional communication with students and the department.
โ€ข Professional experience in accounting, finance, tax, bookkeeping, corporate accounting, public accounting, or a closely related business field.
โ€ข Ability to work from campus, primarily at the Lakewood campus, with possible occasional hours at the Arvada campus.
โ€ข Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.

Benefits

Medical insurance is offered to instructors and other variable hour employees who have worked, on average, at least 30 hours per week in a 12-month period. RRCC/CCCS uses an initial 12-month measurement period to determine medical benefit eligibility, and a 12-month standard measurement period. Student employees are limited toย working no more than 20 hours a week when classes are in session, and may work up to 28 hours a week, during academic breaks or breaksย between terms at the discretion of the college, and non-classified hourly and temporary staff are limited to 28ย hours in a workweek, depending on budget and need. Sick leave is granted in accordance with SB20-205, Sick Leave for Employees, accrued at one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
Instructors and non-student hourly are required to contribute to Colorado PERA at a fixed percentage of their salary and do not contribute to Social Security. RRCC/CCCS student employees are not eligible to participate in PERA. RRCC/CCCS offers three tax-deferred investment plans, including 401(k), 403(b) and 457. Employee assistance services such as counseling, professional coaching, financial planning, and more, are available to you and members of your household at no cost through the Colorado State Employee Assistance Program (C-SEAP). State employees are eligible to participate in BenefitHub which offers discounts for retailers and services and other benefits resources.
