JOB SUMMARY
The NortheasternState University College of ExtendedLearning seeks a full-timechildcare teaching assistant of thenewly created/grant funded drop-in childcare center on the NSU Broken Arrow campus. The Little Rowdy Child Care Centeris a drop-in child care serviceprovided to only NSU students enrolled in programs (under-graduate and graduate) on the BA campusthat allows them to drop their childrenoff while they attendone course a day for no longer than threehours a day.
MAJOR DUTIES

Cultivate a positive relationship with the families, community, faculty and staff of NSU.

Experience in running a classroom.
Creating age-appropriate lesson plans and implementing the curriculum in the classroom.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
Knowledge of curriculum development, lesson plans, as well as mentoring staff and children is preferred.
Skill in the supervision of personnel.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The AssistantDirector assigns work in terms of general instructions.
GUIDELINES
This is a leadership position, assisting the Center's Director in ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education for all children within the center's care.
The child care center is open four days a week fall and spring semesters during peak course offerings during the day.
Intermittent time between the hours of the child care center is spent curriculum planning, setting up/breaking down the center, and grant implementation.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OFWORK
The position requires the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, adapt to changing classroom needs, maintain compliance with Oklahoma DHS Child Care Licensing standards and university policies. As well as exercising sound judgment in supporting the physical, emotional, and educational well-being of children.
Supports the delivery of high-quality early childhood education by assisting with classroom instruction, child supervision, daily care, and age-appropriate developmental activities. The position helps maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment while ensuring compliance with Oklahoma DHS Child Care Licensing requirements, university policies, and established program standards.

Contacts are typically with faculty/staff from the College of Extended Learning and co-workers, other university personnel, faculty, staff, students, vendors, and members of the general public.

PHYSICALDEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in an active early childhood education setting requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting and carrying children, as well as lifting classroom materials.
Active participation in classroom and outdoor playground supervision.
The position requires the ability to respond quickly to children's needs.
Maintain a safe and engaging learning environment, and work in varying indoor and outdoor weather conditions while adhering to health, safety, and sanitation standards.
Must be available during child care center operating hours.
May require traveling to other NSU campuses throughout the year for meetings.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
The assistantwill work with the Directorto oversee and support the work study employees, interns,and volunteers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Two - Three years of direct professional experience in an early childhood setting.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Must be able to pass state-required criminal background check.
A strong understanding of child development
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of curriculum development, lesson plans, as well as mentoring staff and children is preferred.
Must be available during child care center operating hours.
High school diploma.
Preferred: Be willing to obtain the bronze directors' credential.
