Job description

The Executive Protection Specialist ensures the uncompromised security of designated persons and property through proactive and reactive security methodologies. This role assists the management team with personnel training, resource coordination, program management, and field operations planning and oversight. The position supports travel operations and leads security details when designated persons travel outside their primary residences, including both domestic and international assignments.


Responsibilities

  • Provide personal security services to principals, family members, and their properties, including residences, offices, other assets, public events, and travel operations
  • Coordinate advances and lead security details for designated events
  • Respond to and diligently counter threats
  • Independently coordinate logistical movement of principals based on known calendar information and situational awareness of special events
  • Conduct daily information-gathering operations on designated subjects and disseminate information
  • Render necessary medical aid prior to handoff to EMS (e.g., Tourniquet, CPR, AED, etc.)
  • Assist in conducting investigations
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop security plans
  • Create operational plans and compile emergency contacts for trips undertaken by principals
  • Lead program management of various security assets and initiatives
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other security teams, both domestically and internationally
  • Coordinate with law enforcement and other security professionals as needed
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion
  • Stay current on the latest security technologies and techniques and make recommendations regarding upgrades or improvements
  • Drive principals in assigned vehicles
  • Provide training and mentorship to security personnel and new hires
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Skills

  • Minimum of 5+ years of personal protection experience
  • Ability to successfully perform all responsibilities associated with senior-level security operations
  • Significant knowledge of security detection and surveillance technologies
  • Ability to perform essential protective functions during and immediately following exposure to chemical agents, electrical stimuli, and other environmental stressors inherent to use-of-force situations
  • Demonstrated understanding of executive protection concepts, including advances, risk assessments, detailed advance reports, security detail leadership, principal arrivals/departures, situational awareness, open-source intelligence collection and dissemination, and international operations
  • Advanced training in defensive applications, use of lethal and non-lethal tools, and appropriate deployment when necessary
  • Energetic and focused personality with a proven ability to take initiative, prioritize multiple assignments, and manage deadlines effectively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce high-quality intelligence reports and communicate complex security concepts
  • English fluency; additional language skills are a plus
  • Willingness to work all shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays
  • Flexibility to work on-call and irregular schedules as needed
  • Willingness to travel for extended periods on short notice
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and macOS operating systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Comfortable around animals
  • Ability to incorporate knowledge of world geography, cultures, and religions into operational planning and execution
  • Ability to professionally interact with individuals at all levels and de-escalate potentially hostile situations
  • Ability to withstand austere environmental conditions during travel operations, including extreme temperatures, humidity, and altitude
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
  • Ability to physically lift and move unconscious or incapacitated adults during emergencies
  • Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle
  • Must successfully pass a motor vehicle record check

Education

Experience

  • 5+ years of relevant executive protection or personal protection experience


Training

  • Attend and successfully complete all required executive protection training programs either prior to hire or within a timeframe determined by the employer


Physical Fitness Requirements

  • Must pass a Human Performance Evaluation and Drug Screening as a condition of employment and on an annual basis
  • Must pass a Mental Health Evaluation as required
