Position Summary:

Tetra Tech is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Dive Instructor to support its Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) Program in Ukraine. The successful candidate will form part of a specialist training team responsible for delivering theoretical and practical instruction in military diving, underwater EOD/IEDD, underwater search techniques, and associated engineering capabilities to host-nation personnel.

The role requires a highly motivated and adaptable individual with proven international experience, capable of working in demanding and austere environments while contributing to long-term national capacity development and sustainable operational capability.

Essential Job Functions:

The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions:
    Deliver theoretical and practical instruction across all diving competencies up to Dive Supervisor level.
    Deliver training in EOD/IEDD operations.
    Provide training in underwater search techniques and engineering equipment.
    Produce and maintain lesson plans and instructional packages.
    Mentor national personnel during live operational diving activities.
    Support host-nation capacity development.
    Identify opportunities for continuous operational improvement.
    Utilize Survey123 or equivalent reporting platforms.
    Maintain compliance with IMAS, SOPs, and Tetra Tech procedures.
    Undertake additional duties as required.
 

Required Qualifications:

    Military or equivalent diving qualification from a recognized military diving establishment.
    Formal military or civilian instructional qualification and certificate.
    Underwater engineering, hydraulic tools, cutting equipment, construction and demolition.
    Minimum IMAS EOD Level 3 qualification, or equivalent military/civilian certification from an internationally recognized training establishment.
    At least 100 logged diving hours.
    Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
    Must be fluent in English - written and verbal.
    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    Calm and effective under pressure.
    Proven ability to operate in arduous overseas environments.
    Professional and culturally aware approach.
    Ability to work effectively with interpreters and multinational teams.
    Underwater EOD.
    Self-Contained Air Diving Equipment (SCUBA).
    Open Space Diving Systems.
    Underwater search techniques.
    Experience delivering theoretical and practical military or commercial dive instruction.
    Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD).
    Improvised Explosive Device Disposal (IEDD).
    Dive Supervision.
    ROV operations.
    Decompression chamber operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

    40-hour and/or 8-hour HAZWOPER certification
    Boat operator (internationally recognized) qualification.
    First-Aid qualification.
    Dive equipment maintenance.

Physical Requirements:

    Travel for various lengths of time to locations across Ukraine (short and long-term).
    Work prolonged periods of time outdoors in all weather conditions.
    Ability to lift up to 75 lbs., including outboard motors, dive gear, scuba tanks, respirators, dive suits, etc.
    Standing for long periods delivering lessons in a classroom or outdoor setting. 
    Extended periods of seated time developing training curriculum on a computer.


Work Environment / Environmental Factors:

    Work and live in multiple locations when required.
    Work in all weather conditions.
    Travel to new task site locations on short notice when required.
    Work prolonged periods of time in and around water bodies (indoor pools, natural waterways).
    Work with a Ukrainian linguist/translator during instruction.
    Candidates must be aware that Ukraine is a four-season country with large temperature differentials between summer and winter. Summer average daytime temps: 20C to 28C (68-82F) winter average: 6C to 2C (21-28F).


Additional Information:

    Must have at least 1-year passport validity and multiple pages available. May be best to get a second passport for frequent travel.  
    This position is remotely carried out and will require candidates to work outside in austere conditions on a daily basis.
    The weekly work schedule is 6 days a week, Monday to Saturday, inclusive.
    Daily workload changes based on course delivery and tests weeks.
    Days may be divided between classroom, outdoor, and office activities.

Compensation:

Pay commensurate with experience, role requirements, and project/contract dependencies.
