Job description

Position Summary:
Route Supervisor shall support the Director with leadership of the safe, timely, and effective delivery of linen and other assigned products to the customers to whom Superior Linen Service provides professional laundry. The manager in this role must have extremely strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
  • Responsible for maintaining a strong professional relationship with Route Service Representatives (drivers), clients and other personnel as a member of the Superior Linen Service leadership team.
  • Responsible for assisting with recruiting, selecting, training, managing, disciplining, and terminating RSRs as necessary and appropriate in order to maintain a highly effective, highly reliable, and extremely safety focused team.
  • Responsible for oversight of transportation vehicles utilized within the scope of Superior Linen Service route operations as well as relations with vendors that provide leased vehicles and/or service to maintain a consistent and safe operation of vehicles as assigned by the Director.
  • Responsible for recording, tracking, and reporting data that supports the Superior Linen Service operations as well as clientele in order to aid in achieving consistently high-quality service outcome that illustrate the value that Superior Linen Service provides to their hospital.
  • Responsible for communication to Superior Linen Service management with regard to issues, concerns, etc. related to transportation and logistical services.
  • Compiles data, verifies information, and produces reports as assigned by the Director.

Essential Duties and Other Responsibilities:
Operational Excellence
  • Supports operations management through continuous high-level communication between operations management and RSRs.
  • Investigates client issues and concerns to determine root cause and immediate course of correction and sustained improvement as assigned by the Director.
  • Supports operation functions through compilation of data for illustration of metrics and outcomes
  • Participate and add value to committees, meetings, activities
  • Partner in leadership throughout division as strong role model
  • Maintains an environment that is safe through cleanliness and in an orderly condition. Routinely and continuously observes RSRs for safe practices including but not limited to safe handling of infectious materials.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of EEO policy.
  • Demonstrates and promotes Superior Linen culture, values and management philosophy.

People Management
  • Constant resource and reminder of the highest level of quality client and coworker interaction
  • Encourage staff to participate in additional training, education, and/or self-development.
  • Routinely rides along with RSRs for the purpose of observation and training enhancement

Administration
  • Provides high level of communication, keeping all managers/directors informed of activities, needs or concerns.
  • Maintains records and statistics for administrative and regulatory purposes.
  • Maintains high quality relationships with vendors and service providers so as to enhance the professional image of Superior Linen Service in our business community

Education, Training, Experience and Licenses Required:
Required
  • High School Diploma, GED preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Must be 21 years of age or older

Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree or professional driving certification

  • Ability to communicate effectively in written formal and oral presentations from hourly staff to Director.
  • Ability to maintain organization and control in an ever-changing environment.
  • Must exhibit self-initiative, accountability, flexible and good leadership skills as well as interpersonal savvy.
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of linen services, healthcare linen needs, infection control
  • High level knowledge of commercial vehicle operations, service needs, safety principles
  • Above-average time management skills including ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
