How much do route sales jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 26, 2026, the average yearly pay for route sales in Indiana is $53,696.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $42,300.00 and $54,200.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What jobs pay 4000 a week without a degree?

Route sales positions can pay around $4,000 per week for experienced drivers with strong sales skills and a good route. These roles often require a commercial driver's license (CDL), sales ability, and knowledge of logistics. High earnings are typically associated with commission, bonuses, or overtime in such roles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Route Sales Representative, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Route Sales Representative, you need strong sales acumen, a valid driver's license, and basic math skills, often combined with a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with handheld sales devices, inventory management systems, and route-planning software is typically required. Exceptional customer service, time management, and self-motivation help you build client relationships and efficiently manage daily routes. These skills are crucial for meeting sales targets, ensuring timely deliveries, and fostering long-term customer loyalty.

What are route sales?

Route sales involve a salesperson delivering products directly to customers along a designated route, often on a daily schedule. The role typically requires driving, customer service skills, and knowledge of inventory management. Route sales positions often involve maintaining relationships with clients and ensuring timely delivery of goods.

What's the highest paid sales job?

In sales, executive-level roles such as Vice President of Sales, Sales Director, or Chief Sales Officer tend to be the highest paid, often earning six-figure salaries plus significant bonuses and commissions. Industries like technology, pharmaceuticals, and enterprise software typically offer the highest compensation for top sales professionals, especially those with strong negotiation skills and industry expertise.

What Are Route Sales Jobs?

Route sales jobs focus on the sale and delivery of products to customers in a particular territory. In this role, you may drive between a variety of stores, search for leads, display and demonstrate products, quote prices, and prepare reports on business transactions. Route sales positions also make cash deposits, settle inventory, help collect past-due payments, and travel overnight as needed. Some aspects of this job vary by the items you are selling, but your duties usually include loading and unloading trucks on a regular basis, so stamina and physical fitness are crucial.

Can you make $500,000 a year in sales?

Route sales positions typically do not generate $500,000 in annual sales for individual employees, as earnings are often based on commissions, bonuses, and base salary, which usually result in lower total income. Achieving such high sales figures generally requires managing large territories, high-value clients, or multiple salespeople, and is uncommon for standard route sales roles.

What is the difference between Route Sales vs Delivery Driver?

AspectRoute SalesDelivery Driver
Primary RoleSell products directly to customers along a set routeTransport and deliver goods to customers or businesses
Sales InvolvementHigh; involves upselling and customer interactionLow; focus on delivery and logistics
Work EnvironmentCustomer locations, sales offices, and warehousesRoads, delivery sites, and distribution centers
Required CredentialsDriver's license, sales skills, sometimes a sales certificationDriver's license, clean driving record

Route Sales primarily combines sales and delivery, focusing on building customer relationships and increasing sales along a set route. Delivery Drivers mainly focus on transporting goods efficiently without direct sales responsibilities. Both roles require a valid driver's license, but Route Sales often demands stronger sales skills and customer interaction experience.

How does a Route Sales Representative typically manage their schedule and customer relationships throughout the week?

Route Sales Representatives usually follow a set schedule, visiting established clients on specific days to deliver products, check inventory, and discuss any needs or concerns. Building strong customer relationships is key, as repeat business and upselling often depend on trust and communication. Representatives must balance route efficiency with providing personalized service, often adapting their approach based on the customer's business type or preferences. Flexibility and strong organizational skills help them respond to unexpected changes, such as last-minute orders or traffic delays.

Route Sales Representatives are critical to our success at FritoLay! Our Route Sales Representatives are responsible for delivering, selling, and merchandising FritoLay's complete line of products including Lay's, Doritos, Cheetos, Tostitos, Fritos, and many more to local stores including gas stations, dollar stores, and large grocery stores. As a Route Sales Representative, you drive a FritoLay truck to different stores, work independently to unload orders, merchandise product, and partner with store managers to increase sales, order, and maintain records throughout the day.

  • Attain a route with set days off/schedule with time
  • Work in a fun, fast paced, and physical environment

We operate 24 hours a day, so you may not have a typical schedule! Team members often work weekends and holidays. Our jobs are physical! If you have never worked in this type of role before, you should understand that you will be on your feet for the entirety of your shift.

  • Health, dental and vision insurance
  • Financial support to help obtain a degree
