Job description

Operating a commercial motor vehicle delivering and selling products to restaurants, grocery stores, hospitals, warehouses, and like accounts as the route is assigned. Using the Company issued handheld computer and printer to keep accurate records and maintain the necessary paperwork to perform the job.
Pay Range: $31.00 - $34.45/hr
Essential Functions:
  • Conduct a pre-trip inspection at the beginning of each workday.
  • Operate and maneuver delivery trucks and trailers into tight parking areas while watching for traffic, buildings, and pedestrians.
  • Read work orders/load sheets or follow oral instructions to ascertain the needs of each account.
  • Load and unload products from company vehicles using hand trucks and pallet jacks.
  • Check-in every order with the account and bill the customer accurately.
  • Knowledge of all products, current and new.
  • Make sure the customer is aware of all promotions.
  • Sanitize the delivery truck daily as part of your end-of-the-day procedures along with a post-trip inspection of the delivery truck.
  • Provide customers with Point-of-Sale materials.
  • Always maintain the correct temperature of your truck/trailer.
  • Always observe all driving laws, and use safe and defensive driving.
  • Learn to operate the Handheld Route accounting computer and printer assigned to each driver
  • Check product date codes and rotate product stock.
  • Account for all inventory on route through driver master load sheets, invoicing, and end-of-day procedures.
  • Maintain an accurate route book with applicable information noted for each account.
  • Keep delivery trucks clear of clutter and clean up spills. Utilize food safety practices.
  • Report all vehicle and safety concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Tend to customer requests and demands. Communicate any necessary concerns to the appropriate department.
  • Mount tire chains on specific tires as needed (subject to weather conditions).
  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • 21 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Commercial Driver's License, Class A, minimum 18 months driving experience
  • Current Medical Examination Card
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including shift work, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work and drive-in all-weather conditions
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good math skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, organized and efficient use of time
  • Maintain a good personal appearance.
  • Must be responsible and reliable.
