Description:

The Route Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently delivering customer orders on committed local routes while ensuring compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies. This position operates on scheduled routes that allow drivers to be home daily. Drivers depart from and return to the same terminal daily and are responsible for accurate product scanning, unloading, and delivery at multiple customer stops.

Requirements:

Duties/Responsibilities:

•Operate a Class A commercial motor vehicle safely and in compliance with DOT regulations and company policies.

•Deliver customer orders according to predetermined route schedules with multiple stops.

•Perform required pre- and post-trip inspections of tractor, trailer, and related equipment.

•Accurately scan all products according to company procedures.

•Unload products from the trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas.

•Conduct damage control checks and report discrepancies or damaged products.

•Maintain accurate logs, documentation, and delivery records.

•Immediately report safety hazards, accidents, or incidents to the Transportation Supervisor.

•Follow all safety, sanitation, and compliance standards.

•Work assigned schedules, including nighttime deliveries, weekends, and overtime as required.

•Perform other related duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

•Strong knowledge of safe driving practices and DOT regulations.

•Ability to accurately scan, document, and verify delivered products.

•Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet route schedules.

•Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

•Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with dispatch and supervision.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.

• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.

• Minimum one year of commercial driving experience is preferred.

• Must pass drug screen, background check, MVR review, and DOT physical.

• Valid DOT Medical Card required.


Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the

essential functions of this position. The driver must be able to sit for extended periods while operating a

commercial motor vehicle and remain alert at all times. The position requires frequent climbing in and

out of the truck and trailer, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting product

and equipment. Drivers must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver items weighing up to approximately 50

pounds and occasionally more. The role requires the ability to perform vehicle inspections, operate

hand-held scanning equipment, unload products, and work in varying weather conditions, lighting

conditions, and temperature environments. Adequate vision, hearing, and communication abilities are

required to ensure safe vehicle operation and effective communication with customers and dispatch.

Drivers must meet all DOT physical qualification standards.
