Job Summary:
The Senior Plant Technical Manager for Assembly is responsible for supporting the plant and customer through effective management of new programs, plant projects and implementation of improvement and cost reduction suggestions. Develops assembly, process, fixturing and equipment to ensure high quality and cost-effective production. Assure design changes are implemented in a timely, cost-effective manner.
Essential functions of the job:
  • Support plant safety programs by ensuring engineering support is involved with the implementation into the manufacturing process.
  • Establish, monitor and report on team KPIs related to production, training, employee engagement and use data to drive continuous improvement in departmental performance and culture.
  • Partner with HR to support onboarding, succession planning and talent pipeline development within the department to align with organizational goals.
  • Champion the training and professional development of the department team members by identifying skills gaps and creating individualized development plans and ensuring access to relevant learning opportunities and completion.
  • Actively promote a culture of continuous learning and growth by coaching employees on career progression and collaboration with Learning and Development.
  • Foster high levels of employee engagement within the department through regular recognition efforts, team building activities, open communication, feedback sessions and initiatives that reinforce Yanfeng values and promote work-life balance.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor to team leaders to enhance motivation, retention and job satisfaction.
  • Manages the quoting and implementation of product/process design changes.
  • Support VA/VE activities by ensuring the Manufacturing Engineering is represented at all trials, approvals, and implementation dates are achieved.
  • Establish and evaluate internal integration plans by completing make vs. buy plans and present proposals.
  • Develops annual budgets and schedule for purchase burden, labor, and equipment.
  • Supervise maintenance managers and manufacturing engineers.
  • Manage all facilities activities at the site.
  • Reviews the job performance of each subordinate so that employee training and development may be utilized per Company policy.
  • Conformance to all IOS and TS requirements applicable to position
  • Responsible for promoting a safe work environment and preventing injuries through the use of, but not limited to, 5S, job rotation, and ergonomic work practices. Safety auditing, tracking or audit closure, participating in incident reviews along with writing or assisting in the 8D process and aiding in corrective action closure. Communication of safety information as necessary and participation in safety meetings and activities is also required.

Required Education:
Engineering Degree or similar.
Required qualifications:
  • 5-9 Minimum Years of Experience within the automotive industry.
  • Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial manufacturing plants which might require climbing, lifting, or working in confined spaces.
  • Must be organized and able to communicate well with others.
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty, satisfactorily.
