Job description

Job Description: Arcadia University invites applications for a full-time, twelve-month, non-tenure track faculty position as an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Physician Assistant Program at the Delaware Campus. Arcadia's College of Health Sciences (CHS) houses the University's Public Health, Medical Science (Physician Assistant Studies), and Physical Therapy departments. Through evidence-based practice and project-based learning, these programs prepare healthcare professionals for success in a rapidly changing global environment, with applied work, clinical rotations, international fieldwork, and multicultural assessment. Graduates of Arcadia's CHS programs are at the forefront of their respective fields and employed with leading health organizations.
Location: Christiana, DE
Essential Functions:
  • Evaluate, revise, and coordinate course curriculum
  • Instruct didactic and clinical year students.
  • Develop and evaluate student assessments
  • Develop, maintain, and mentor adjunct instructors
  • Participate in committees at the department and university levels
  • Mentor and advise physician assistant students
  • Participate in the evaluation of the overall effectiveness of the Program in meeting its mission
  • Participate in student remediation
  • Participation in accreditation-related activities and needs for the Program
  • Presence on campus is required
  • University service and engagement
  • Development of scholarly and practice-related expertise per faculty excellence

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in physician assistant studies or related healthcare field is required; doctorate degree or willingness to pursue a doctorate degree is preferred
  • NCCPA Board certification
  • Working understanding of the current PA education standards as defined by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
  • At least three years of clinical experience as a healthcare provider

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • At least three years of clinical experience
  • Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail
  • Adept interpersonal and communication skills
  • Skillful problem solving capabilities
  • An ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Student-centered approach to learning, teaching and advising professional practices
  • Support for accreditation efforts to meet all standards and remain in compliance
