There are openings for adjunct instructors to teach courses related to Banking, Finance, Investments, or FinTech

Wilmington University is seeking dynamic and experienced professionals to join our faculty as adjunct instructors in the areas of banking, finance, investments, and financial technology (FinTech). This role offers an opportunity to share your expertise with motivated students and contribute to a high-quality academic experience that bridges theory and practice.
Responsibilities include:
  • Teach graduate-level courses in banking, finance, investments, and/or FinTech.
  • Develop and deliver engaging course content aligned with program objectives and institutional standards.
  • Incorporate real-world applications, case studies, and current industry trends into instruction.
  • Foster an inclusive and collaborative learning environment that supports student success.
  • Assess student performance through assignments, projects, and examinations, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Maintain regular communication with students and respond promptly to inquiries.
  • Adhere to all academic policies and participate in required faculty meetings or training sessions.

Requirements:
Applicants are required to have a doctoral degree in a business-related discipline (PhD or DBA required) with ten (10) or more years of executive-level professional experiences in the banking, finance, investments or fintech fields. Preference will be given to applicants who are available to teach on-campus in New Castle county, Delaware; however, there may be opportunities for online instruction. Adjunct teaching applicants are expected to have strong communications skills. Experience teaching at the post-secondary education level is preferred. In addition, the following are required:
  • Understand the mission and values of Wilmington University.
  • Submit a Statement of Teaching Philosophy, following these guidelines: Provide a description of your teaching philosophy. Your description should be no more than 1.5 pages in length and should include the following information: (1) A brief statement (5-7 sentences) explaining how you plan to provide excellence in teaching, relevancy of curriculum, and individual attention to students, which is the cornerstone of Wilmington University's mission statement. (2) Based on your statement above, please briefly answer the following questions: (a) Explain your beliefs, theories and/or methods regarding teaching and how they shape your concept of successful teaching? (b) How do you know when you are teaching effectively? (c) How do you develop and maintain positive relationships with students? (d) How do you create a supportive learning environment? and (3) Include a summary of your thoughts on education and the role that you feel you could play in developing students to be successful in their discipline, career, and life. (This statement must be added as an attachment to your application)
  • General computer skills and be able to use MS Office software.
  • Experience in using Canvas LMS technology preferred.
  • Must be willing to complete Wilmington University's self-paced Canvas (Learning Management System) training if selected, including the 3 week asynchronous online training program, Hybrid Online Training
  • Must be able to abide by tight deadlines required of a 7 week Block format curriculum.
  • Must have knowledge of various instructional strategies designed to meet the course instructional objectives and add to student learning.
  • Must be able to develop a personalized course outline designed to follow a generic syllabus provided by the University.
  • Must be able to provide relevant work experience to the instructional content of the course.
  • Qualified applicants may be asked to present an additional writing sample
  • Qualified Applicants may be asked to present a 10-minute teaching sample for the Program's Director and Chair as part of the interview process.
