This role operates administratively in a Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Setting, defined as medical, social, and supportive services for Iowans with functional, cognitive, and other physical or mental health needs (Iowa Health & Human Services). Rather than institutionalizing individuals who have these physical and mental health needs, HCBS settings provide these individuals with the opportunity to live and receive services in a way honoring to them and their abilities.


HCBS Supervisors provide leadership to a team who is laser-focused on providing the best care possible. Within the team, youll guide a team into fulfilling the mission of empowering people to reach individual achievement across the spectrum of life.   • Team Leadership & Development: Collaborate with recruitment and training teams to hire, onboard, and develop staff; supervise Direct Support Professionals; schedule coverage based on service needs; and provide ongoing coaching, support, and weekly site oversight.
  • Team Culture & On-Call Responsibility: Foster a positive, engaged team culture through active involvement, monthly team meetings, staff follow-up, and coaching, while participating in on-call rotation and providing short-notice coverage when needed.
  • Operational & Resource Management: Oversee key resources including vehicle scheduling, individual budgets, representative payee processes, medication check-ins, and appointment coordination, while supporting community partnerships and service enhancement efforts.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies while maintaining accurate, timely, and complete documentation, including incident reports, investigations, and service records.
  • Person-Centered Advocacy: Advocate for individuals served by promoting dignity, independence, and choice, ensuring services are respectful, empowering, and aligned with each persons goals and desired outcomes.
