Grant Aviation is an Alaskan regional air carrier serving rural Alaska since 1971. With bases in Bethel, Emmonak, Dillingham, King Salmon, Cold Bay, Dutch Harbor, Kenai, and Anchorage, Grant Aviation provides scheduled air transport of passengers, cargo, and mail, as well as air ambulance and charter service. Grant Aviation employs approximately 360 people.

POSITION: Ground Services Equipment (GSE) Specialist
LOCATION: Bethel, Alaska

You will be involved in the overall upkeep of GSE at our Bethel, Alaska base. This dynamic fleet includes heavy diesel equipment, forklifts, trucks and modern utility vehicles, on which you will ensure the regular maintenance, upkeep and perform repairs contributing to smooth daily operations at this Station.

We are looking for a highly motivated, honest, and reliable heavy equipment diesel mechanic who prioritizes safety and has a proven track record in demanding environments. This position is based out of Bethel, Alaska and is a rotational role, 3 weeks on and 3 weeks off.


Are you interested in:

  • Promoting a safe working environment by following all safety procedures
  • Maintaining a good work ethic, including being reliable and punctual in reporting for scheduled work.
  • Performing, troubleshooting and diagnostic assessments on a variety of equipment.
  • Completing repairs and general maintenance on a variety of equipment.
  • Determining project needs, supplies and time for completion and informing appropriate staff.
  • Accomplishing work in a safe, efficient manner in accordance with our company policies.
  • Documenting work performed and track expenditures in accordance with company policy and procedures using Word documents, basic spreadsheets and other technology.
  • Maintaining equipment and tools used while performing job duties.
  • Completing work with proper documentation and communication to stake holders

You ideally possess:

  • 5+ years of proven experience as a heavy equipment diesel mechanic is highly preferred.
  • Current Driver's License required (Prefer applicants 25 years of age or older due to insurance requirements)
  • Able to pass a DOT background check with no criminal history or disqualifying offenses in the last ten years.
  • Comfortable operating various equipment, including forklifts or front-end loaders.
  • High degree of attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to meet deadlines proactively.
  • Highly flexible, adaptable, and resourceful
  • Able to work independently and in a team.

You will also be expected to schedule and coordinate with specialized vendors and contractors in various locations as needed, as well as remain flexible and detail oriented. You will be expected to take care of and clean tools and equipment and always keep work areas safe and clear. Due to the scope of work that requires working on airport properties, you will need to be able to obtain all required airport badging.
