What is a rosin?

Rosin is a solid form of resin obtained from pines and some other plants, typically produced by heating fresh liquid resin to vaporize the volatile liquid terpene components. In the context of jobs, 'rosin' most commonly refers to a product used by musicians (especially string players like violinists) to create friction between the bow hair and strings. Rosin is also used in various industrial applications, such as in adhesives, inks, and as a flux in soldering. People who work with rosin may be involved in its production, packaging, quality control, or sales. These jobs require knowledge of the properties and uses of rosin in different industries.
