The ideal Medical Director brings steady leadership, sound clinical judgment, and a structured approach to care delivery, while remaining adaptable to the individualized needs of patients within an integrative model.
This role is not primarily administrative in the abstract, nor purely patient-care focused. It is designed for a physician who values clear protocols, reliable systems, and collaborative leadership, and who partners closely with operational leadership to support sustainable clinic growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Care & Oversight
  • Provide direct patient care within the Root Causes integrative and functional medicine model.
  • Evaluate and guide individualized treatment plans with attention to safety, appropriateness, and consistency.
  • Prescribe and manage medications, diagnostics, and therapies in alignment with established clinical standards.

Clinical Governance & Consistency
  • Serve as the primary medical authority for clinical decision-making.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to nurse practitioners and prescribing providers.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex or higher-risk clinical cases.
  • Support the development, implementation, and refinement of clinical guidelines, pathways, and protocols.
  • Reinforce adherence to standards while allowing appropriate clinical judgment.

Provider Support & Leadership
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to clinical providers through clear expectations, feedback, and example.
  • Foster a calm, respectful, and professional clinical environment.
  • Support provider confidence and consistency in applying Root Causes' care model.
  • Model accountability, reliability, and patient-centered decision-making.

Operational Partnership
  • Partner closely with the Head of Practice to align clinical operations with established workflows, training, and systems.
  • Participate in forward-looking planning related to clinical staffing, training needs, and care delivery consistency.
  • Support operational initiatives by providing clinical input that improves safety, clarity, and efficiency.
  • Maintain clear boundaries between clinical leadership and operational execution while working collaboratively.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • MD or DO licensed in the state of Texas.
  • Board-eligible or board-certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or a comparable field.
  • Experience supervising or collaborating with nurse practitioners and advanced practice providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead with consistency, structure, and sound judgment.
  • Strong communication skills and emotional maturity in complex clinical environments.
  • Experience in integrative or functional medicine preferred but not required; openness to learning is essential.
  • Prior leadership or medical oversight experience strongly preferred.

WHO IS A GOOD FIT FOR THIS ROLE?
This role is best suited for a physician who:
  • Values structure, clarity, and consistency
  • Leads through reliability and sound decision-making
  • Is comfortable providing direction and oversight within defined systems
