A Roofing Project Manager oversees all aspects of roofing projects, from initial planning and budgeting to execution and completion. They coordinate with clients, suppliers, and roofing crews to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. Their responsibilities include scheduling, safety management, inspecting work progress, and resolving any issues that arise. Roofing Project Managers also handle documentation, permits, and ensure compliance with building codes and safety regulations.

Job description

Project Manager/Estimator – Commercial Roofing & Sheet Metal

Northwest Indiana / Chicagoland

$90,000–$110,000 Base + Vehicle/Allowance + Excellent Benefits

Build Projects. Not Headaches.

If you're an experienced Commercial Roofing Project Manager who's tired of putting out fires, constantly chasing crews, or wondering where the next project is coming from, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.

Our client is a well-established commercial roofing contractor with a strong reputation throughout Northwest Indiana and the greater Chicago market. Thanks to continued growth and a healthy backlog of awarded work, they're looking to add another Project Manager to the team.

This is a growth position—not a replacement.

You'll inherit a pipeline of work, partner with experienced superintendents, and have the support you need to deliver successful projects from preconstruction handoff through closeout.

What You'll Do

  • Manage commercial roofing and sheet metal projects from kickoff through completion
  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, forecasting, and financial performance
  • Build strong relationships with owners, general contractors, architects, and subcontractors
  • Coordinate closely with field leadership to keep projects on schedule and on budget
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and project documentation
  • Lead project meetings and proactively solve challenges before they become problems
  • Successfully manage multiple projects while maintaining exceptional customer service

The Work

  • 85% New Construction | 15% Re-Roof & Service
  • Typical project sizes from $350K–$500K
  • Significant sheet metal scope
  • Local projects within approximately a 40-mile radius
  • Strong backlog with consistent work already secured

What We're Looking For

  • Experience managing commercial roofing projects
  • Sheet metal project experience is a strong advantage
  • Comfortable working in a union environment
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Experience with Procore, Dataforma, or similar construction software
  • A proactive Project Manager who enjoys taking ownership and building long-term client relationships

Why This Opportunity?

Join a contractor with an outstanding reputation and loyal client base

Strong backlog means long-term stability and consistent work

Local projects—limited travel and more time at home

Supportive leadership that trusts its Project Managers

Autonomy to run your projects without unnecessary micromanagement

Competitive salary, vehicle allowance, and comprehensive benefits

If you're ready to join a company where your experience is valued, your projects are well supported, and your career can continue to grow, I'd love to have a confidential conversation.
