The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute (RRPFI) is the sole nonprofit organization created by President Reagan, charged with advancing his legacy and principles – individual liberty, economic opportunity, freedom and democracy, peace through strength, and national pride.


 A globally recognized, nonpartisan organization based in Simi Valley, CA, with a leading policy institute in Washington, DC, the Reagan Foundation delivers impactful public affairs programming, policy convenings, and projects of national and international significance, scholarly initiatives, and distinctive educational programs that shape the perspectives of middle, high school, and college students. 


In addition, RRPFI sustains the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, the largest and most-visited presidential library. A leading cultural institution, RRPFI houses a remarkable 125,000-square-foot museum featuring unique historical pieces that tell the story of Ronald Reagan’s life, presidency, and enduring impact. 


Position Available:

The Reagan Foundation is seeking a full-time Creative Director to join the marketing team. This position helps to shape the artistic vision and strategy for the Foundation, leading our team of designers from concept to execution, ensuring all deliverables are high-quality, on-brand, and aligned with overall business goals. 


This is an in-person position located on our Simi Valley, California campus. Key responsibilities include implementing visual marketing programs that range from print media, digital channels (email, social media, and presentations), and video, developing engaging collateral across departments that tell a story and elicit an emotional response from constituents, and ensuring the Foundation’s Brand is correctly adhered to on every project. The successful candidate will work closely with the design team, IT services, and department heads to deliver content that exceeds our department’s expectations.  


This position reports to the Chief Marketing and Cultural Programming Officer, and manages a team of three print/digital team members and three video team members. 


Job Qualifications/Responsibilities:

The Creative Director will have skills in the following (but not limited to): 

  • Initiate and design complex and simple project plans based on department specifications
  • Ensure that each project has the specific financial and personnel resources it requires to be successful
  • Attend presentations to help departments understand the design and production angle of each of their projects
  • Work with the executive team to implement marketing materials for the organization to help increase the organization/department exposure
  • Collaborate with design personnel to ensure that all creative ideas are presented properly
  • Work with outside vendors for outsourcing printing, digital applications, and other resources needed to complete initiatives.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Annual museum store virtual catalog
  • Annual Foundation calendar
  • Designing new store products
  • Logo development
  • Board Presentations
  • Ensure all departments stay on brand
  • Implementation of weekly emails, including “Journey Builder”
  • Staff development
  • Preparation for and execution of all graphics and video projects for two major forums each year, one at the beginning of December and one at the end of May


Minimum Requirements:

  • 10+ years' experience in an in-house design team leadership role
  • Proven success in managing graphics team
  • Strong design and production skills in print and digital media.
  • Portfolio of previous work that displays an ability to turn an idea into a visual piece
  • Strong communication and computer skills
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Social Media Channels, and Email applications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the marketing design process
