The Roll-Off Driver will be responsible for safely, efficiently, and courteously providing waste removal services to customers across multiple lines of businesses. The CDL Driver will collect waste from customer sites and transport to post-collection facilities for proper disposal.


GFL is expanding, and we are looking to hire a Roll-Off Driver in Childersburg, Alabama! The Roll-Off Driver will be responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and courteous waste removal services to a diverse range of customers across multiple lines of business. In this role, the CDL Driver will collect waste from customer sites and transport it to post-collection facilities for proper disposal, ensuring high-quality service and strict adherence to safety standards.

A "Day in the Life" of a Roll Off Driver:

  • Safely operate roll-off trucks and equipment, performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and maintaining the cleanliness of the cab interior and exterior.
  • Complete all required documentation, including truck reports and route sheets, and report any vehicle mechanical issues immediately to both the mechanic and supervisor.
  • Maintain route quality standards and exhibit professionalism in appearance and communication, especially when interacting with customers or the public.
  • Identify and communicate potential hazards, follow all safety protocols, and wear required personal protective equipment to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Accurately maintain service records, attend safety meetings, and be prepared to work overtime as needed, supporting continuous improvement and routing efficiency
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and at least one year of commercial driving experience or a CDL school certificate.
  • Proficient in safely operating vehicles and necessary equipment, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members and customers, along with the ability to complete reports and follow written instructions.
  • Basic mathematical skills for route calculations and documentation, with a commitment to continuous learning and adaptability to changing demands.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks such as lifting 50 to 100 pounds, sitting for extended periods, and maintaining required visual acuity for vehicle operation.
  • Regularly work in loud, varying weather conditions with exposure to mechanical parts, traffic, and precarious places, with safety protocols and protective equipment provided.
