Job Duties:
  • Expertly and safely operates a tractor truck, including maneuvering it through narrow passageways, negotiating narrow turn radiuses, etc.
  • Loads and unloads vehicles onto and off of truck.
  • Secures each vehicle on truck per manufacture specifications, taking into consideration size and weight of load, and positioning vehicles so that load is within legal limits.
  • Performs daily safety inspections on truck, prior to use, and reports any items in need of servicing. Provides maintenance reports per schedule.
  • Receives and verifies freight against receiving documentation, notes discrepancies and damage and reports findings.
  • Monitors daily shipment status reports.
  • Maintains radio contact with dispatcher.
  • Maintains daily driving logs as mandated by state and federal regulations.
  • Maintains interior and exterior cleanliness of truck.
  • Follows safety regulations and attends monthly safety meetings
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Able to safely and competently perform job duties described above
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of recent Class A driving experience
  • 2+ years of automobile hauling experience
  • Valid Transportation Worker Identity Credential (TWIC) card
  • State-issued commercial driver license: Class A with hazardous endorsements
  • Must meet all other D.O.T. qualification criteria for commercial truck drivers, as detailed in Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, including physical qualification criteria and substance abuse testing requirements.

Other Requirements:
  • DOT minimum age requirement of 21 as this is an interstate trucking position.
  • Submission of 10-year MVR (from within last 30 days) required.
  • No DUI or reckless driving convictions.
  • No more than 2 points in last 12 months.
  • No more than 3 points in last 36 months.
  • No failure to appear (FTA) charges.
  • No more than 1 "at fault" accident.

Physical Capabilities Required:
In the course of a workday a driver may repeat this process two to 5 times in 14 hours, delivering between 10 and 50 vehicles. Work performed outdoors, may include work in inclement weather conditions.
  • Operate a manual transmission commercial vehicle competently and safely in broad range of road, weather, and traffic conditions.
  • Safely lift and maneuver objects and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds frequently, on a daily basis
  • Climb up/down 8-10 feet, bend down, kneel down, crouch, squat, and twist as required to secure load
  • Safely execute overhead reaching and chain handling; wrench or pull on ratchets with up to 50 lbs. of pressure
  • Must be able to climb on transport, enter and exit vehicles being transported with reduced entry clearance (24") frequently
  • Requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity
  • Operate passenger vehicles with sufficient precision to complete damage-free loading, unloading from truck, parking
  • Stand, walk over uneven surface for distances up to 500 feet.
