Job Description

A Bracing Machine Operator sets up, operates, and maintains specialized machinery to shape metal coils into specific profiles, ensuring production quality and efficiency. Key responsibilities include installing roller dies, adjusting machine settings, monitoring for defects, performing routine preventiv maintenance, and interpreting blueprints to meet strict dimensional tolerances. 

  • Machine Setup & Operation: Install and align roller dies (tooling) on spindles, load steel/metal coils using cranes or forklifts, and adjust settings for thickness, speed, and shear. 

  • Production Monitoring: Run the roll-forming line, ensuring continuous material feed, proper lubrication, and accurate cut-to-length functionality. 

  • Quality Control: Perform first-off inspections, using calipers, micrometers, angle gauges, and tape measures to verify that finished products match blueprints and specs. 

  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform daily preventive maintenance (cleaning, oiling, greasing) and troubleshoot issues like jamming, roller wear, or misalignment. 

  • Safety Adherence: Strict adherence to safety protocols, including machine guarding, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and PPE usage. 

Qualifications

Experience: 2 years of experience in metal fabrication, manufacturing, or specific roll-forming machine operation. 

Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints,  SAP work orders, navigate MES system, and interpret technical drawings. 

Tools: Proficiency in using hand tools (wrenches), measuring instruments (calipers, gauges, tape measure, micrometer), and potentially overhead cranes. 

Physical Strength: Capability to lift materials (often up to 50 lbs) and stand for long periods. 

Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
