Job description

Position Summary

The Compliance Specialist will help manage product testing, certifications, compliance documentation, and regulatory requirements for consumer electronics and small appliances sold in the U.S.

The ideal candidate has experience working with testing labs, certification agencies, manufacturers, and product compliance requirements. They should be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable using AI tools to support research, document management, and process improvement.

Responsibilities

Product Testing & Certification

  • Coordinate product testing and certification activities with accredited laboratories and certification agencies.
  • Manage compliance projects from product development through production and launch.
  • Review test reports, certifications, declarations, and technical documentation.
  • Monitor certification status and maintain testing schedules.

Regulatory Compliance

Support compliance efforts for products sold in the United States, including:

  • UL safety standards
  • ETL certification requirements
  • FCC regulations and labeling requirements
  • CPSC regulations
  • CPSIA requirements
  • California Proposition 65
  • RoHS compliance
  • REACH compliance
  • Product packaging and labeling requirements

Supplier & Factory Coordination

  • Work directly with overseas factories and suppliers to obtain required compliance documentation.
  • Review factory-provided test reports and certification records.
  • Communicate compliance requirements and corrective actions to manufacturing partners.
  • Ensure compliance requirements are incorporated into product development and sourcing processes.

Documentation & Record Management

  • Maintain organized compliance records and certification databases.
  • Track certification renewals, testing schedules, and regulatory deadlines.
  • Create and maintain compliance documentation for internal and customer requirements.
  • Support retailer and marketplace compliance requests.

AI & Process Improvement

  • Utilize AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, or similar platforms to improve compliance workflows.
  • Leverage AI for document review, regulatory research, data organization, and compliance tracking.
  • Help identify opportunities to automate and streamline compliance processes.


Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 2-5 years of compliance experience in consumer products, consumer electronics, small appliances, or related industries.
  • Experience working with testing laboratories and certification organizations.
  • Experience reviewing and managing compliance documentation and test reports.
  • Experience coordinating with manufacturers and suppliers.

Required Knowledge

Working knowledge of:

Skills
