Regulatory Compliance Data Specialist (Contractor)

Compensation: $35.00 – $43.00 / hour (Competitive within range based on knowledge, skills, and experience) ---
Position Overview
Are you a detail-oriented professional with a passion for data accuracy and environmental compliance? Spectra Logic is seeking a Regulatory Compliance Data Specialist to join our Sustaining Engineering team on an ongoing, part-time contract basis (~20 hours/week).
In this vital role, you will champion our environmental data integrity by reviewing Bills of Materials (BOMs), partnering with global suppliers, and ensuring our product documentation perfectly aligns with global regulatory standards. Working in a flexible, hybrid capacity, you will serve as a key cross-functional collaborator helping us protect and defend the world's data responsibly.

Key ResponsibilitiesData Research & Validation
  • BOM & Part Analysis: Review existing Bills of Materials (BOMs) to identify, track, and fill gaps in critical environmental regulatory data.
  • Supplier Engagement: Research part-level compliance data by navigating vendor websites, exploring supplier portals, and initiating direct, professional communication with suppliers.
  • Compliance Documentation: Collect and validate essential compliance declarations, including RoHS, REACH, SCIP, TSCA, PFAS, Prop 65, and Conflict Minerals.
Reporting & Cross-Functional Synergy
  • Data Integrity Support: Track and organize collected compliance details, formatting data cleanly for the Item Master team to store permanently.
  • Customer Disclosures: Utilize compiled substance data to accurately complete customer environmental disclosure forms and regulatory questionnaires.
  • Collaborative Teamwork: Partner across internal departments—including Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Regulatory, and Customer Support—to keep product data flawless.

What We Are Looking For
  • Analytical Data Management: Proven ability to manage large, complex technical datasets with an exceptional level of accuracy, meticulous attention to detail, and robust record-keeping habits.
  • Technical Familiarity: Prior experience reviewing BOMs, part numbers, datasheets, or engineering records within ERP/MRP systems or spreadsheets.
  • Compliance Knowledge (Preferred): Familiarity with standard global environmental compliance frameworks (RoHS, REACH, SCIP, PFAS, etc.) and material declarations.
  • Proactive Communicator: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships and follow up with external vendors and internal engineering teams.
  • Residency: Must reside within commuting distance of our Boulder, CO office for regular hybrid collaboration. (Please note: Relocation assistance is not available).

Contract Terms (1099)
  • Schedule: Flexible, averaging 20 hours per week ongoing.
  • Structure: This is an independent contractor (1099) arrangement. The contractor is responsible for their own taxes, will invoice the company on a Net 30 schedule, and is not eligible for company employee benefits.
