Job Description:

This is a sensitive government position.

Employment for the selected candidate(s) is contingent upon the successful completion of a GBI background investigation including criminal, credit and driver's history checks, polygraph examination, fingerprinting and drug screening.In addition, the selected candidatewill also be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under close supervision, analyzes evidence, crime reports, and databases to assist agents, law enforcement officers and prosecutors in the investigation and successful prosecution of crime. In addition, the day-to-day job duties includes gathering information in support of criminal investigations or public safety/homeland security assessments; facilitating information and intelligence sharing among stakeholders; providing analysis of investigative information; computer, accounting or other specialized data; managing crime database information; participating in developmental training focused on intelligence analysis; and other duties as assigned. This is the entry/training level of the Intelligence Analysis job series. Incumbents at this level may require additional training or experience to gain full proficiency in all or some of the job responsibilities. The incumbent(s) will provide support to the assigned in the Atlanta Metro Area and Decatur, Georgia.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Gathering information in support of criminal investigations or public safety/homeland security assessments.

  • Facilitating information and intelligence sharing among stakeholders.

  • Providing analysis of investigative information; computer, accounting, or other specialized data.

  • Managing crime database information.

  • Participating in developmental training focused on intelligence analysis.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Required to work on-call rotation as needed to include overnight.

  • Travel and operating a state vehicle is required. The applicant must have a valid Georgia driver's license.

  • Mainly sedentary work in an office environment which includes shared office space.

  • Must be proficient with the use of a computer.

  • Successful completion of the New Analyst Training Program.

  • Required to establish residency in your area of assignment or reside within a twenty-five (25) miles radius of your assigned regional boundary for statewide assignments.

  • The selected candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance, in addition, to the successful completion of a GBI background investigation.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Required to work on-call rotation as needed to include overnight.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The incumbent will occasionally be required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Make fast, repeated movements of fingers, hands, and wrists. Occasionally light lifting/or moving boxes or supplies may be required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position requires the incumbent(s) to work in an office setting which includesshared office space with other employees. This position requires the ability to work on call rotation as needed to include overnight.

NOTE: This position may require some travel and operating a state vehicle. A valid Georgia driver's license is required.
