How much do robotics technology jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 11, 2026, the average hourly pay for robotics technology in the United States is $28.24, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $22.12 and $32.93 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is robotics technology?

Robotics technology involves the design, construction, operation, and use of robots for various tasks. This field combines engineering, computer science, and artificial intelligence to create machines that can perform tasks autonomously or with minimal human intervention. Robotics technology is used in industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, and even in daily life through personal robots. Advancements in robotics are driving innovation and automation, improving efficiency, safety, and precision in many sectors.

What is the difference between Robotics Technology vs Mechanical Engineer?

AspectRobotics TechnologyMechanical Engineer
Required CredentialsDegree in Robotics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering; certifications in robotics systemsBachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering; Professional Engineer (PE) license often preferred
Work EnvironmentResearch labs, manufacturing facilities, automation companiesDesign firms, manufacturing plants, R&D departments
Industry UsageAutomation, robotics development, AI integrationProduct design, machinery, thermal systems
Common Search/ComparisonRobotics Technology vs Mechanical Engineer

Robotics Technology focuses on designing, developing, and implementing robotic systems, often combining electrical, software, and mechanical components. Mechanical Engineers primarily work on designing and analyzing mechanical systems and machinery. While both roles may overlap in areas like automation, Robotics Technology emphasizes robotics-specific skills and interdisciplinary knowledge, whereas Mechanical Engineering covers a broader range of mechanical systems and structures.

What careers can you get with robotics?

Robotics technology opens careers such as robotics engineer, automation technician, control systems engineer, and research scientist. These roles typically require knowledge of programming, mechanical design, and electronics, often involving tools like CAD software and programming languages such as Python or C++. Many positions are found in manufacturing, research labs, and technology companies.

Which 5 jobs will survive AI?

Robotics technicians, automation engineers, AI specialists, software developers, and maintenance technicians are likely to continue thriving as they require specialized skills in programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining complex systems. These roles involve critical thinking, hands-on work, and adapting to new technologies, making them less susceptible to automation. Continuous learning and certification in relevant tools and programming languages can enhance job security in these fields.

How much do robotic technicians get paid?

Robotic technicians typically earn a median annual salary of around $50,000 to $70,000, depending on experience, location, and industry. They often work with automation systems, troubleshooting, and maintaining robotic equipment in manufacturing or industrial settings.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in Robotics Technology, and why are they important?

To thrive in Robotics Technology, you need a strong background in engineering principles, programming (such as Python or C++), and robotics systems, often backed by a degree in robotics, mechanical, or electrical engineering. Familiarity with CAD software, robotic simulation tools, and platforms like ROS (Robot Operating System) is typically required. Problem-solving, creativity, and strong teamwork skills help individuals excel in developing innovative robotic solutions and collaborating on complex projects. These skills are vital to ensure effective design, implementation, and continuous improvement of robotics technologies in diverse industries.

Is robotics a high paying job?

Robotics technology jobs are generally considered well-paying, especially for roles such as robotics engineers and automation specialists, which often require skills in programming, mechanical design, and systems integration. Salaries can vary based on experience, education, location, and industry, but many robotics positions offer competitive compensation compared to other engineering fields.

How does a Robotics Technology professional typically collaborate with cross-functional teams in a project setting?

Robotics Technology professionals often work closely with engineers, software developers, project managers, and quality assurance teams to design, build, and refine robotic systems. Collaboration usually involves regular team meetings, integration testing sessions, and feedback loops to ensure that hardware and software components work seamlessly together. Effective communication and a willingness to learn from other disciplines are essential, as project success depends on the synchronization of mechanical, electrical, and software elements. This collaborative environment provides valuable opportunities to broaden your technical skills and gain insights into the entire robotics development lifecycle.
