STEM Teacher -Science, Engineering & Robotics | Kโ€“8 Focus

Woodmont STEAM Academy is seeking an innovative and hands-on STEM Teacher to serve students in grades Kโ€“8, with a primary focus on middle school science and engineering integration. This educator will deliver rigorous science instruction while leading the schoolโ€™s robotics and engineering initiatives, bringing the STEAM vision to life through real-world application, design thinking, and problem-solving.

The ideal candidate is passionate about connecting science to engineering, technology, and innovation, and can create a learning environment where students actively build, design, test, and think critically.

Core Responsibilities
  • Teach standards-aligned science instruction for middle school students (with support or integration opportunities in elementary grades as needed)

  • Integrate the engineering design process into daily instruction

  • Lead and develop the schoolโ€™s robotics program (instruction, clubs, competitions, showcases)

  • Facilitate hands-on, project-based learning experiences (building, coding, prototyping, experimentation)

  • Connect scientific concepts to real-world engineering applications

  • Collaborate with math, technology, and elective teachers to strengthen STEAM integration across grade levels

  • Manage and maintain STEM lab materials, tools, and equipment

  • Prepare students for science assessments while maintaining a strong focus on application and critical thinking

  • Support enrichment opportunities such as STEM clubs, competitions, and showcases

Preferred Experience & Skills
  • Experience teaching middle school science

  • Background or strong interest in engineering, robotics, or applied sciences

  • Experience with robotics platforms such as:

    • LEGO Robotics

    • VEX Robotics

    • Arduino or similar systems

  • Knowledge of coding basics and STEM technology tools

  • Experience with project-based learning (PBL) and inquiry-based instruction

  • Ability to lead and coach student teams for STEM competitions

  • Strong classroom management and ability to engage diverse learners

Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Science, Engineering, STEM Education, or related field

  • Teaching certification in Science (grades Kโ€“8 or 6โ€“8 preferred)

  • Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students

  • STEM certifications or robotics training (preferred but not required)

Impact Goal

To develop innovative thinkers and problem-solvers by bridging science and engineering, empowering students to design, build, and apply knowledge in meaningful, real-world ways.
