Robotics Operations information

What are Robotics Operations?

Robotics Operations refers to the management, monitoring, and maintenance of robotic systems within various environments, such as manufacturing, logistics, or research facilities. Professionals in robotics operations ensure that robots perform tasks efficiently and safely, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with other teams to optimize workflow. This role typically involves overseeing both software and hardware aspects of robotic systems, implementing updates, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Robotics operations specialists play a critical part in maximizing robotic productivity and minimizing downtime.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in Robotics Operations, and why are they important?

To thrive in Robotics Operations, you need a solid background in robotics engineering, automation, and troubleshooting, often supported by a degree in engineering or related fields. Familiarity with programming languages (such as Python or C++), robotics control systems, and commonly used platforms like ROS (Robot Operating System) is typically expected. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective teamwork are crucial soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure the smooth operation, maintenance, and optimization of robotic systems, minimizing downtime and supporting organizational efficiency.

What is the difference between Robotics Operations vs Robotics Engineering?

Common Search & ComparisonYesNo

Robotics Operations focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and managing robotic systems in industrial or service settings. Robotics Engineering involves designing, developing, and testing robotic systems. While both roles require technical knowledge, Operations emphasizes hands-on system management, whereas Engineering centers on creation and innovation.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in Robotics Operations, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in Robotics Operations often encounter challenges such as troubleshooting hardware or software malfunctions, maintaining high uptime for robotic systems, and adapting to rapidly evolving technologies. To address these, it’s important to develop strong problem-solving skills, stay updated with the latest industry advancements, and collaborate closely with engineering and IT teams. Additionally, effective communication and thorough documentation help ensure smooth handoffs during shift changes and enable the team to respond quickly to operational issues.

UI/UX Designer

Autonomi Robotics

Orlando, FL • On-site

Full-time

Posted 3 days ago

Job description

Our robots navigate hospitals autonomously but the people who deploy, monitor, and interact with them need interfaces that are fast, clear, and reliable under pressure. As our UI/UX designer, you'll own the full surface area of our digital product: from the touchscreen on the robot itself, to the tablet app operators use on the floor, to the fleet dashboard that gives hospital teams visibility across STAT, TOTE, LIFT, and LIFT+. You'll be the first dedicated designer on the digital side, which means building the foundation others will build on.

What you'll do
  • Design the on-robot touchscreen UI interfaces used by clinical staff in fast-moving, high-stakes environments
  • Own the operator-facing mobile and tablet app used to dispatch, track, and manage robots on the floor
  • Design the fleet monitoring dashboard giving hospital teams real-time visibility into fleet status, tasks, and alerts
  • Contribute to and help maintain a design system that scales across all our digital surfaces
  • Design internal admin and configuration tooling used by our ops and customer success teams
  • Support user research and testing with hospital staff to validate and improve designs
What we're looking for
  • 14 years of UI/UX design experience across web, mobile, or embedded touchscreen products
  • A portfolio that demonstrates strong visual and interaction design applications without a portfolio link will not be reviewed
  • Familiarity with design systems and component thinking
  • Solid grasp of data-dense UI dashboards, status views, or operational tools
  • Proficiency in Figma, including components, auto-layout, and basic prototyping
  • Eager to work in an environment without a lot of process yet
Nice to have
  • Experience designing for healthcare or clinical environments
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG)
  • Experience with embedded or kiosk touchscreen UI
  • Background in robotics, logistics, or operations software
  • User research experience in regulated or sensitive environments
