Ready to put robots through their paces?
Do you thrive on breaking things the right way to make them stronger? Can you translate noisy logs into crisp engineering decisions? Are you excited to validate sensors, controls, mechanics, and software as one cohesive robotic system?
What makes Symbotic different
We build an A.I.-powered robotics platform that orchestrates fleets of advanced robots in a dense, end-to-end warehouse system. The result: consumer goods move with unprecedented efficiency, speed, and flexibility.
The mission of Robotics Test Engineering
Within Hardware Engineering, our team ensures Symboticโs mobile robots meet reliability, functionality, and readiness targets. We deliver design verification, durability and subsystem validation, plus deep root cause analysis. Youโll collaborate daily with BOT Hardware, Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, and Manufacturing to accelerate product maturity and reduce field risk.
Your core challenges
- Plan, execute, and iterate on Design Verification Testing at the system and subsystem levels, with tight reporting and feedback loops.
- Lead mechanical durability, lifeโcycle, and fatigue testing of components and assemblies to validate longโterm behavior.
- Disassemble and inspect parts and integrated robots; conduct failure analysis and prescribe corrective actions.
- Design/build/maintain custom fixtures, mechanical rigs, and tooling to power validation and sustainment programs.
- Prove out sensor, controls, and software behavior at the robot level using Python automation, scripting, and data acquisition.
- Produce clean documentation and communicate findings that drive concrete engineering actions.
- Support released products in sustainment and partner with BOT Hardware to uplift future designs.
Mustโhave credentials
- BS in Robotics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or related.
- 5+ years in robotics testing, mechatronics, validation engineering, or closely related fields.
- Experience with mechanical durability testing, lifeโcycle validation, fatigue analysis, and failure investigation.
- Familiarity with quality/manufacturing metrology, GD&T, and structured V&V test development.
- CAD proficiency (SolidWorks or CATIA) for reviews, fixture design, and mechanical support.
- Python proficiency for automation, scripting, data logging, and test workflow efficiency.
- Clear communicator with strong documentation discipline.
Where youโll work
- Fully onsite, 5 days per week, in lab and warehouse spaces.
- < 10% travel for supplier visits or support at other locations.
- Comfort working on your feet, lifting robot parts or test equipment, and operating safely around mobile robotic and automated systems.
