Robotics Deployment Engineer information

What is a robotics deployment engineer?

Robotics Deployment Engineers are professionals who specialize in installing, integrating, and configuring robotic systems in real-world settings. They work closely with clients to ensure robots are properly set up, tested, and optimized for specific operational needs. Their responsibilities often include troubleshooting hardware and software issues, providing on-site support, and training staff on using robotic equipment. These engineers play a critical role in making sure robotics technology transitions smoothly from the lab or factory to its intended application environment.

What are some typical challenges faced by robotics deployment engineers during on-site installations?

Robotics Deployment Engineers often encounter challenges such as adapting to varying facility layouts, integrating new robotic systems with existing infrastructure, and troubleshooting unexpected hardware or software issues during deployment. Communication and collaboration with local IT, operations, and maintenance teams are key to overcoming these obstacles, as each site may present unique requirements or constraints. Being flexible and solution-oriented is essential, as timelines can be tight and successful deployment often hinges on quickly resolving integration and performance concerns.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a robotics deployment engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Robotics Deployment Engineer, you need a strong background in robotics, mechanical or electrical engineering, and experience with system integration, often supported by a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with programming languages (such as Python or C++), robotics middleware (like ROS), and hands-on experience with automation hardware and control systems are typically essential. Problem-solving, adaptability, and excellent communication skills help you coordinate with cross-functional teams and address client needs effectively. These skills ensure successful on-site deployment, troubleshooting, and optimization of robotic systems in diverse environments.

Job description

About Moove AV

At Moove AV, we don’t just manage fleets; we operate the critical infrastructure that makes autonomous transportation a reality. As a premier partner to AV industry pioneers like Waymo, we manage high-tech autonomous vehicle (AV) depots where precision, uptime, and—above all—safety are the benchmarks of our success.

Are you interested in building an AI operated autonomous fleet and depot operating system? Moove AV is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to own the architecture of a core system of a brand-new, greenfield platform for autonomous mobility operations, powered by GenAI, LLMs, and real-time visual intelligence. You will start as a hands-on founding engineer, growing into long-term technical ownership and mentorship as the platform matures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and build highly scalable, resilient, and distributed systems and services, while translating complex functional and technical requirements into detailed technical architecture.

  • Write high-quality and well-tested, production-grade code, and actively participate in and lead code reviews, design reviews, and day-to-day implementation work alongside the broader engineering team.

  • Own systems end to end, covering design, deployment, monitoring, and oncall support; build robust observability such as metrics, alarms, and dashboards; design for failure using graceful degradation and fallback strategies; and drive root-cause analysis on production issues.

  • Deliver quality features on time and on budget, and execute against project plans and commitments in an agile environment that balances speed with technical rigor.

  • Partner with GMs, Operations managers and supervisors, along with cross-time-zone teams, to translate business and customer problems into technical solutions, and work directly with customers and stakeholders to reduce friction and accelerate outcomes.

  • Influence technical decisions and standards within your team and immediate domain; mentor engineers across levels. Raise the engineering bar through design reviews, code reviews, and operational readiness.

  • Guide and develop junior engineers by sharing knowledge, providing hands-on coaching through code and design reviews, and fostering their growth so they can independently deliver high-quality, well-architected solutions.

Qualifications

Must have

  • Bachelors in a related-field preferred (Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering)

  • 8+ years of experience building cloud-native backend or platform systems.

  • Proven experience delivering greenfield products or internal platforms from scratch.

  • Hands-on experience building distributed systems on modern cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines, including AI/ML or LLM-driven components in production.

  • Ability to translate ambiguous business requirements into production-ready systems.

  • Strong engineering fundamentals across system design, performance, reliability, and maintainability.

  • Comfort operating in high-ownership, low-process, early-stage environments.

Nice to have

  • Experience building workflow engines, orchestration systems, or DAG-based processing platforms.

  • Exposure to logistics, fleet, mobility, or data-intensive SaaS platforms.

  • Prior experience in founding engineer or early platform team roles.

Working at AV Fleet & Depot Ops Tech

You’ll be building at the center of one of the fastest-moving infrastructure categories in transportation, where the AV fleet operations market is projected to reach $12.8B by 2034.

  • Rapid Industrial Growth: You will work at the cutting edge of a booming global industry transforming logistics, supply chains, and urban transit.

  • High-Impact Innovation: Your daily work directly optimizes complex software systems, reducing vehicle emissions and building cleaner, more sustainable transportation networks.

  • Crucial Problem Solving: You will solve massive, real-world operational challenges like real-time scheduling, automated charging, and predictive fleet maintenance.

  • Valuable Skill Building: This career path builds highly marketable, future-proof expertise in artificial intelligence, robotics, data analytics, and cloud infrastructure.

Why Join Moove AV?

You will be joining a team that is literally building the future of movement. We offer the chance to lead in an industry where your work directly impacts public trust in autonomous technology. If you thrive in environments where the bar is set high and the mission is clear, we want to talk. We welcome people from diverse backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently.
