  • Certification: Must possess or be eligible for the following CTSDE Certification (047) Technology Education

Salary: Salary, work year and working conditions will be in accordance with the current contract between the Board of Education and the Suffield Educators Association (Salary Range $51,730-114,405).
Period of Employment: Accepting applications for the start of the 2026/2027 school year.

Position Summary
The Middle School Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher provides engaging, hands-on learning experiences that inspire students to explore technology, engineering, robotics, digital media, and the skilled trades. Through project-based learning, students develop technical skills, creativity, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving abilities while making meaningful connections between classroom learning and future career opportunities.
The successful candidate will create an inclusive and engaging learning environment where students investigate, design, build, create, and solve authentic problems using a variety of technologies, tools, and materials. The program prepares students for high school Career and Technical Education pathways while fostering workplace readiness, innovation, and lifelong learning.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to:
  • Design and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction in technology education, robotics, engineering design, digital media, and introductory skilled trades.
  • Develop hands-on, project-based learning experiences that promote creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and real-world problem solving.
  • Teach intermediate robotics concepts, including programming, engineering design, testing, and iterative improvement.
  • Guide students through digital media projects using video recording, editing, storytelling, and multimedia production tools.
  • Deliver introductory Home Builders Institute (HBI) curriculum while promoting safe work practices and exposing students to careers in the construction and building trades.
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to differentiate instruction, monitor student growth, and meet the diverse learning needs of all learners.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and well-equipped learning environment by instructing and supervising students in the proper use and care of tools, equipment, materials, and instructional technologies.
  • Foster a classroom culture that values curiosity, innovation, perseverance, teamwork, and responsible digital citizenship.
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community partners.
