Job description

Dentons US LLP is currently recruiting for an experienced Enterprise Applications Automation Engineer to join our IT Operations team. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automation solutions and workflows across a diverse set of enterprise applications, driving operational efficiency, quality assurance, and post-patch validation through advanced automation and integration technologies.
Responsibilities
Automation & Workflow Development
  • Develop and maintain automations and workflows across Exchange, Intune, Mimecast, Active Directory (AD), EntraID, Freshworks, and other 3rd party applications.
  • Evaluate and apply automation techniques, where appropriate, to support application QA and post-patch testing and improve validation of system changes.
  • Utilize PowerShell, Power Automate, Microsoft Graph, and other relevant tools to automate administrative tasks, data integrations, and reporting.
  • Integrate and support distributed microservices and cloud-hosted solutions, leveraging APIs and modern authentication protocols (OAuth2, SAML, Single Sign-On).

System Administration & Support
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for automated workflows and integrations, collaborating with IT Operations and service desk teams.
  • Monitor automation performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to ensure smooth operations.
  • Conduct regular audits, security reviews, and data integrity checks for automated processes.

Collaboration & Project Delivery
  • Work closely with the End User Compute, Enterprise Applications, and Applications Support teams to design and build scalable enterprise automation solutions.
  • Participate in the development and execution of the firm's technology roadmap, focusing on automation and operational excellence.
  • Lead or contribute to automation-related projects, including planning, management, and successful delivery of assigned initiatives.
  • Prepare documentation for handoff to service teams and provide Level 3 support for automation-related issues, escalating to architects as needed.

Quality Assurance & Testing
  • Develop automated QA scripts and workflows for application testing, regression validation, and post-patch verification.
  • Implement systematic approaches to software testing, and evaluate opportunities to enhance testing through automation and emerging technologies.

Vendor & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Participate in RFP/RFI processes for automation tools and platforms, contributing to vendor analysis and selection.
  • Manage strategic vendor relationships related to automation and integration technologies.

Continuous Improvement
  • Stay updated with the latest automation, RPA, and AI technologies, proactively recommending system improvements.
  • Document automation configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps for future reference and training.

Other Duties
  • Identify and communicate automation-related risks to appropriate IT leadership.
  • Participate in outage calls and incident response as required.
  • Other duties as assigned to fully meet the requirements of the position.

Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or comparable work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and administering automations for enterprise applications (preferably in legal or professional services).
  • Strong experience with PowerShell, Power Automate, and Microsoft Graph.
  • Experience with deployment and administration of Microsoft operating systems and applications.
  • Proven track record in project leadership and independent delivery of automation solutions.
  • Experience with systematic software testing and QA automation.
  • Azure Fundamentals Training/Certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with modern authentication protocols, cloud integrations and RPA.
  • The candidate will need a strong ability to demonstrate successful independent work and value-added deliverables.
  • Experience with AI-driven automation platforms (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI, or similar).
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts for process optimization and anomaly detection.
  • Ability to leverage AI for predictive analytics, automated QA, and intelligent workflow orchestration.
  • Azure Fundamentals Training/Certification a plus

Salary
Chicago Only DOE: $98,000 - $125,000
Washington DC Only DOE: $102,000 - $130,000
