What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Robotic Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Robotic Intern, you need a solid background in robotics, mechanical or electrical engineering, or computer science, often supported by relevant coursework or a degree in progress. Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or C++, robotics simulation tools (like ROS), and hands-on experience with microcontrollers or hardware prototyping are typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams are crucial soft skills. These competencies ensure you can effectively contribute to robotic system development, testing, and innovation in a rapidly evolving field.

What types of projects and responsibilities can a Robotic Intern expect to be involved with during their internship?

As a Robotic Intern, you can expect to work on a variety of hands-on projects, such as assembling robotic components, writing and testing code for automation, and assisting with troubleshooting hardware and software issues. You'll often collaborate closely with engineers and other interns, gaining exposure to the full development cycle from initial concept to testing and deployment. Interns are usually encouraged to contribute ideas during team meetings and may have opportunities to present their work. This role typically offers a mix of individual tasks and teamwork, providing valuable real-world experience and skills that can support your career in robotics.

What does a Robotic Intern do?

A Robotic Intern assists engineering teams in designing, building, testing, and maintaining robotic systems. Their responsibilities often include programming robots, running simulations, collecting and analyzing data, and troubleshooting hardware or software issues. Interns may also help with research, documentation, and participating in team meetings to contribute ideas. This role provides hands-on experience in robotics, preparing students for careers in automation, AI, or engineering fields.

What is the difference between Robotic Intern vs Robotics Technician?

AspectRobotic InternRobotics Technician
CredentialsTypically pursuing or holding a relevant degree or certification in robotics or engineeringUsually requires technical certifications or associate degrees in robotics, electronics, or related fields
Work EnvironmentInternship settings, often in research labs or company R&D departmentsHands-on technical work in manufacturing, maintenance, or installation environments
Employer & IndustryEducational institutions, tech companies, or research organizationsManufacturing plants, automation companies, or industrial facilities
Common Search & ComparisonOften compared for entry-level experience and training opportunitiesCompared for technical skills and operational responsibilities

The main difference between a Robotic Intern and a Robotics Technician lies in experience and responsibilities. Interns are typically students gaining initial exposure, focusing on learning and assisting, while technicians are more experienced, performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational tasks in industrial settings.

Job description

Robotics Software Intern

The Robotics Software Intern role involves developing and implementing motion planning or perception algorithms while contributing to the prototyping, testing, and integration of robotic systems. This hands-on internship offers the opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, troubleshoot sensors and actuators, and gain practical experience in building cutting-edge robotics in a fast-paced startup environment.

About Anyware Robotics

Anyware Robotics deploys multi-purpose mobile robots, equipped with physical AI, to safely and autonomously handle strenuous and repetitive operational tasks. Pixmo, the company's robot, is designed to autonomously handle boxes for trailer unloading, palletizing, case picking, and trailer loading. Pixmo is powered by AnywareOS, a physical AI software that enables advanced perception and object handling in dynamic, unstructured environments. Pixmo's combination of intelligent software and flexible hardware helps distribution centers and 3PLs reduce labor costs, enhance worker safety, and maintain productivity during labor shortages to deliver a clear return on investment (ROI). We're a small team with big goals, building robots that make work safer and smarter. If you like solving real problems, deploying robots into production, and seeing your ideas come to life, you'll fit right in.

Description

Anyware Robotics is seeking multiple Robotics Interns (expertise in Motion Planning or Perception) to join our team, with an anticipated start date in mid-September. The position could be seamlessly transferred to full-time if performance is outstanding.

  • For Motion Planning track: develop and implement motion planning and task planning algorithms for high-DOF robot arm, generating collision-free, smooth and time-optimal trajectories.
