What we need

The Project Engineeris responsible forthe installation, commissioning, and testing of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)-controlled equipment at customer sites. This role involves hands-on work with electrical technicians tobring upcontrol cabinets, load and configure PLC software, and execute tests to verify system functionality and performance. The Onsite Commissioning Project Engineer serves as the single point of contact for all onsite commissioning support, training, andissueresolution. This role collaborates closely with Software, Engineering, and ICS teams to ensure seamless system integration and project execution.

The Commissioning team plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful deployment of robotic systems. Theyare responsible foroverseeing the beginning and final stages of system integration, testing, and optimization before the automation solution is put into operation. This team works closely with engineers and technicians to fine-tune robotics and automation systems, ensuring they meet performance standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements. Theirexpertisein troubleshooting, calibration, and quality control helpsSymboticdeliver efficient and reliable robotic solutions to clients across various industries.

Whatyou'lldo

  • Act as the primary liaison for all onsite commissioning support, issue resolution, and coordination across departments.

  • Ensureall commissioning workload, progress, and reporting are accurately updated and maintained in Jira per project.

  • Partner withteam leadership to design, benchmark, and standardize commissioning processes from scratch.

  • Auditing third-party contractor work and documentation to ensure strict adherence to company processes.

  • Conduct one-on-one discussions with engineers to verify the content and status of Jira tickets, ensuring no missing details.

  • Track and verify that timesheet hours align with commissioning tasks and projects.

  • Resolve blocked and rejected Jira items by working directly with assigned engineers.

  • Facilitate weekly training sessions and documentation updates to support continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with project managers to address and resolve blocking issues.

  • Travel as needed to work onsite with project managers, scrum masters, the commissioning team, and leadership.

  • Participate in new product development initiatives by attending design reviews, workshops, and cross-functional planning sessions to ensure commissioning requirements, deliverables, documentation, and field support needs areidentifiedand addressed throughout the development process.

Whatyou'llneed

  • Bachelor's degree in either electrical or mechanical engineering, or in automated production management, or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with PLC (Allen Bradley), Robot (ABB, Fanuc), Industrial networking (Ethernet/IP), or Operator interface (Panel View Plus).

  • Mechanical Engineer, or an engineer with heavy hands-on mechanical experience, is highly preferred.

  • Experience with motion control equipment such as VFDs and the ability to debug and support via Remote Desktop, SSH, browser, etc.

  • Demonstratedproficiencyin managing projects across broad internal stakeholders to execute project scope and timeline.

  • Demonstrated ability to schedule complex work with dependencies and to drive production.

  • Track recordof exceeding project deliverables whileremainingon time and within budget.

  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Our Environment

  • Remote, field-based position.

  • Travel isrequiredup to 75% of the time. Employees must have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.

  • The employeeis responsible forowning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.

  • Ourmain officeis in Wilmington, MA. The person taking this field-based position willbe requiredto perform work at our customer installation locations for extended periods of time where equipment is installed and ready for commissioning.

  • The employee isfrequentlyrequired to walk and reach with hands and arms.

  • The employeeis routinely required towork at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Mustcomply withall safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.

  • Approximately 75% of time will be spent on a construction site with PPErequired(hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection (e.g., safety harness).

  • There will be steep stairs to climb into the structure. You maybe requiredto routinely walk up and down stairs to navigate the automation structure.

  • You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground.

  • Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105 to 32 Fahrenheit.

The base range for this position in the posted location is $96,000.00 - $132,000.00 however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO and/or other benefits.
