Job description

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Windows Migration Engineer for a contract position with a Higher Education Institution located in University Heights, OH. This is a 3-month contract opportunity.
W2 rate: $50-60/hour

We are seeking an experienced Windows Migration Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise migration from Windows 10 to Windows 11. This role is responsible for planning, testing, deploying, and supporting workstation upgrades while ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Group Policy (GPO), roaming profiles, folder redirection, and endpoint management in a Microsoft environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support migration activities from Windows 10 to Windows 11 across enterprise environments
  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
  • Support and maintain roaming profiles and folder redirection configurations
  • Validate application compatibility and coordinate remediation efforts
  • Perform desktop imaging, deployment, and upgrade activities
  • Troubleshoot operating system, profile, login, and performance issues
  • Support endpoint management tools including Microsoft Intune, SCCM/MECM, or similar platforms
  • Assist with Active Directory administration and user account management
  • Develop migration documentation, deployment procedures, and support guides
  • Coordinate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to ensure successful rollout
  • Provide end-user support during migration and post-deployment stabilization
  • Track and resolve incidents, service requests, and escalations related to migration activities

Requirements:
  • 3 years of enterprise desktop engineering or systems administration experience
  • Hands-on experience with Windows 10 and Windows 11 migrations
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Group Policy (GPO)
    • Roaming Profiles
    • Folder Redirection
    • Active Directory
  • Experience with Microsoft deployment and endpoint management tools:
    • SCCM / MECM
    • Microsoft Intune
    • Autopilot (preferred)
  • Experience troubleshooting user profile and login-related issues
  • Knowledge of enterprise networking concepts and permissions
  • Strong documentation and communication skills

Desired skills:
  • Experience in large enterprise environments (1,000 users)
  • PowerShell scripting experience
  • Familiarity with security policies and endpoint compliance standards
  • Microsoft certifications preferred:
    • Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate
    • Modern Desktop Administrator
    • Azure / Entra ID experience
