Job description

NOCC Technician

As a NOCC Technician, you will play a critical role in the surveillance and maintenance of the C Spire wireless, fiber, IP, and broadband telecommunications networks. This role supports customer experience and network reliability through continuous monitoring, rapid issue resolution, and collaboration with internal teams and vendors. This position may be filled at the Level I, II, or III based on your experience and demonstrated technical expertise.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do In all of your duties, you will have a relentless, obsessive, yet disciplined approach to manage all details to perfection and deliver desired results. For positions at level I, your duties would include:

  • Monitor and resolve issues related to Lucent & Nortel CDMA switches, Alcatel Lucent, Fujitsu, Calix, OCCAM, BTI, Cisco, and other telecommunications hardware.
  • Maintain, test, and resolve issues with OCn, Gigabit Ethernet, DS3, T1, and DWDM facilities across both legacy and IP networks.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting with vendors, infrastructure, field, and internal technical teams.
  • Enhance customer service by resolving issues escalated from Customer Care, Roaming, Engineering, Field Services, and other departments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Actively support company values including integrity, ownership, passion for excellence, and customer focus.

For positions at level II, your duties would include:

  • All responsibilities of Level I.
  • Assist Tier I technicians with customer and internal network-related troubleshooting.
  • Investigate outage logs and support root cause analysis.
  • Prepare outage reports for NOCC leadership.

For positions at level III, your duties would include:

  • All responsibilities of Level II.
  • Serve as Tier II support for complex internal and customer-facing network issues.
  • Make critical decisions regarding after-hours field dispatches and emergency maintenance initiation.

This position is an exceptional introduction to network operations and fiber/wireless infrastructure management, as there is plenty of room to grow and learn from outstanding individuals in the field. For positions at level I, we require:

  • Associate degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience in wireless/data/communications services.
  • Experience in NOCC or related telecommunications role preferred.
  • Knowledge of CDMA/LTE systems preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

For positions at level II, we require:

  • All qualifications from Level I.
  • At least two years of experience in a Network Operations Control Center.
  • Proven ability to fulfill Level II responsibilities.

For positions at level III, we require:

  • All qualifications from Level II.
  • At least four years of experience in a Network Operations Control Center.
  • Demonstrated capability to perform Level III responsibilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Must be able to sit for long periods and use a computer keyboard and/or mouse while viewing a computer screen. Must be willing to work rotating shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays to support 24/7/365 coverage.
