Job description

  • Job Title: Security & Loss Prevention Specialist
  • Reports To: Director of Loss Prevention
  • Location: Schaumburg, IL (On-site)
  • Full-Time (Part-Time options could also be available)
  • Shift Details: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM operational coverage, featuring a mix of 6-hour and 12-hour shifts
  • Schedule: Adaptable availability required, including rotating weekend shifts
  • Pay $25/hr - $27.50/hr

Established in 2009, Heartland Roadshow is a premier buyer of estate jewelry, precious metals, gold and silver coins, and collectibles. Similar to "Antiques Roadshow," we host boutique buying events at hotels and venues nationwide where individuals bring in estate items to sell.

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Director of Loss Prevention, this role supports daily facility security and assists with theft investigations. You will utilize digital surveillance systems and data tools to track incidents, secure evidence, and prevent inventory loss at our e-commerce fulfillment center.

Key Responsibilities

  • Security & Surveillance: Perform routine facility security tasks and actively monitor operations using digital security, access control, and CCTV surveillance platforms.

  • Investigation Support: Assist the Director of Loss Prevention in investigating internal and external theft, fraud, and inventory shrinkage.

  • Evidence Management: Gather, document, and securely store digital and physical evidence while adhering strictly to chain-of-custody protocols.

  • Reporting & Documentation: Write clear, accurate, and comprehensive incident reports using Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • External Coordination: Serve as a liaison with local law enforcement, insurance providers, and third-party shipping carriers on investigations and liability claims.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 1–3 years in security, loss prevention, or investigations (preferably in an e-commerce, warehouse, or logistics environment).

  • Technical Proficiency: High comfort level operating and troubleshooting digital surveillance and access control systems.

  • Computer Literacy: Strong proficiency in data entry, report generation, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office products.

  • Loss Prevention Knowledge: Strong grasp of standard facility security, shrink reduction, and loss prevention practices.

  • Procedural Accuracy: Demonstrated understanding of proper evidence handling and chain-of-custody procedures.

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills for documenting incidents and coordinating with external agencies.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods within a large warehouse facility.

  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs during daily operations or investigations.
