As a Road Tech, most of your day will be spent traveling to various customer locations to perform roadside repairs, diagnostics, or maintenance on commercial vehicles or equipment. You’ll handle a variety of tasks ranging from jump-starts and tire changes to more complex mechanical troubleshooting, often responding to service calls as they come in. Team collaboration is frequent, especially when coordinating with dispatchers, parts managers, and sometimes other technicians to ensure a swift resolution. The role requires adaptability since each day brings new locations, vehicle issues, and customer interactions. This dynamic environment offers a unique blend of independence and teamwork, ideal for those who enjoy problem-solving outside the traditional repair shop setting.

These skills ensure efficient onsite service, safety, and customer satisfaction while addressing urgent road service needs.

Job description

  • Project Manager – Intelligent Transportation Systems
  • Austin, TX
  • $120k–$150k + Benefits

Summary

We're looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of software, systems integration and deployment projects across intelligent transportation systems and roadside technology. You'll be responsible for managing the full project lifecycle—from project initiation through implementation, testing and customer handover—working closely with engineering, software development, operations and client stakeholders to deliver complex technology solutions.

This role is ideal for someone with experience managing projects within tolling, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), advanced traffic management systems or highway technology infrastructure.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle delivery of software and systems integration projects from planning through deployment and customer acceptance.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, budgets and resource plans.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams across engineering, software development, product, operations and third-party vendors.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage project scope, risks, issues, dependencies and change control.
  • Lead project governance meetings, steering committees and executive reporting.
  • Support system design workshops, implementation planning and deployment activities.
  • Ensure projects comply with internal governance, quality standards and customer contractual requirements.
  • Support business development activities through technical proposals, bid support and customer presentations where required.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience delivering software or systems implementation projects within tolling, intelligent transportation systems, roadside technology, traffic management, transit technology or highway infrastructure.
  • Experience managing customer-facing technology implementation projects valued from $1M+.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles (SDLC), systems integration and technology deployment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage customers, executive leadership and technical teams.
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, risk registers and reporting.
  • Knowledge of Agile, Waterfall or hybrid project delivery methodologies.
  • Experience working with public sector agencies, transportation authorities or infrastructure operators is highly desirable.
