What are RNs in SNFs?

RNs in SNFs (Registered Nurses in Skilled Nursing Facilities) are licensed nurses who provide medical care and oversee patient health in long-term care settings. They are responsible for administering medications, coordinating treatment plans, monitoring patient progress, and supervising other nursing staff such as LPNs and CNAs. RNs in SNFs also communicate with doctors and families to ensure high-quality care for residents, many of whom have complex medical needs or are recovering from illness or surgery.

What are some typical challenges an RN faces when working in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), and how can they be managed effectively?

RNs in Skilled Nursing Facilities often encounter challenges such as managing high patient-to-nurse ratios, addressing complex and chronic health conditions, and coordinating care with interdisciplinary teams.
