What are Registered Nurses (RNs)?

Registered Nurses (RNs) are licensed healthcare professionals who provide patient care, educate patients and the public about health conditions, and offer support to patients and their families. They work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, schools, and community health organizations. RNs assess patient health problems, administer treatments and medications, and collaborate with doctors and other healthcare staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients. To become an RN, individuals must complete an accredited nursing program and pass the NCLEX-RN licensing exam.

What are some common challenges Registered Nurses (RNs) face when transitioning between different healthcare settings, such as hospitals, clinics, or long-term care facilities?

Registered Nurses often encounter challenges when moving between healthcare environments due to differences in patient populations, workflows, and technology systems. For example, hospitals typically have a faster pace and higher acuity patients compared to clinics or long-term care, requiring quick decision-making and adaptability. Support from colleagues and orientation programs can help ease these transitions and promote professional growth.

Registered nurses can increase their income by taking on per diem or agency shifts, working overtime, or specializing in high-demand areas such as anesthesia or critical care.
