Job description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Step-Down position at a large Level I Trauma Center academic medical center, requiring ventilator and tracheostomy experience.
Job Details
• Step-down unit in a short-term acute care, Level I Trauma Center academic medical center with over 1,500 staffed beds,
• Pulmonary patient population including ventilated patients and those undergoing vent weaning, with tracheostomy cases,
• Average patient ratio of 1:5-6, with the possibility of taking up to 5 non-vent patients in addition to vented assignments,
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM,
• Every other weekend required,
• No on-call required,
• Floating required and may occur frequently between sister units NP1 and EP 4-6,
• Charting via Epic,
• Parking available at $125/month,
Job Requirements
• Active CT or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted, but must be active prior to start),
• Current BLS certification required,
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required,
• Ventilator and tracheostomy experience required,
• Step-down or similar unit experience in a large trauma center or academic medical center setting required,
• Clean nursing license with no prior disciplinary actions,
• 1 professional reference required for consideration,
Additional Information
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position,
• Former permanent staff of this health system must have been separated for at least 2 years before being considered as a traveler,
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved by the facility,
• Block scheduling is not available for this position,
• Royal blue scrubs required,
• Flu vaccine is mandatory; declinations are not accepted,
• COVID vaccine required; religious and medical exemptions considered,
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
