Per Diem/ On-Call ECC/ICU Veterinary Technician (Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists)
Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists is looking for an experienced per diem veterinary technician for the ECC/ICU department. If you are looking for a second income or prefer not to have a set schedule, we'd love to hear from you!
At Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists, we're passionate about what we do and looking for like-minded individuals to join our ECC team in Buzzards Bay, MA. As a member of our team, you'll have the chance to utilize your technical skills while continuing to learn and grow your expertise.
About This Role
As an ECC nurse, you'll play a crucial role in the emergency team, supporting doctors and teammates to ensure each patient receives high-quality care, from triage and admission to hospitalization and discharge. You can expect to use or learn skills in pain management, trend changes and system monitoring, transfusion medicine, and mechanical ventilation or table cases.
Responsibilities and Functions
  • Perform emergency triage, obtain vitals, gather health histories, and document interactions, information, and observations using EMRs
  • Assist in stabilizing critically ill patients as they present to the ER.
  • Utilize technical skills to perform exceptional medical care, including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and diagnostic imaging.
  • Assist emergency clinicians with procedures through induction, prep, monitoring, and recovery.
  • Provide advanced nursing to critically ill patients utilizing sophisticated technical skills, exceptional communication and advocacy, and compassionate care
  • Be a fundamental member of each patient's healthcare team through advocacy, collaboration, communication, and inpatient and outpatient teamwork.

Schedule and Benefits
  • We have open shifts that range from 6, 8, and 12 hours on days, swings, and overnights.
  • Pay Range for per diem hours: $22 to $32/hr
  • On-call- $3/hr. If called in, the hourly rate is $48.50

Education Qualifications
  • Current CVT, LVT, or RVT, or the ability to obtain licensure within six months, is strongly preferred
  • VTS (ECC) preferred, or the desire to earn a specialization
  • RECOVER certified preferred
Required Experience Qualifications
  • Two years of veterinary ECC experience is required
  • Experience in anesthesia and monitoring of emergency procedures (such as wound repairs)

  • Must be able to anticipate patient and team needs and be detail-oriented due to the high level of quality medicine
  • Must have the ability to adjust to changes in the environment and able to handle stress in a calm manner
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to problem-solving and to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively
