From medical, dental and behavioral health; home care and hospice; public health services like immunizations, WIC, health promotion and restaurant inspections; and educating the next generation of health professionals, our expertise spans all ages and stages of life.

RiverStone Health Foundation Overview:
RiverStone Health Foundation exists to support the mission of RiverStone Health, to improve life, health and safety across Yellowstone County for all RiverStone Health locations and Departments. The foundation raises funds through annual and planned giving, capital campaigns, special events, grant awards, bequests and cause-related partnerships with community businesses. These funds assist RiverStone Health in providing affordable and accessible health services for all. Many healthcare expenses and public health programs are not always covered by insurance reimbursement or fees, the Foundation enhances services to benefit all patients and their families, as well as by making capital improvements and purchasing much needed supplies and equipment.
Job Summary:
The Director of Development for the RiverStone Health Foundation establishes fundraising activities in alignment with RiverStone Health's overall strategic plan and oversees all facets of the daily operations of RiverStone Health Foundation. The work is performed directly under the supervision RiverStone Health President & CEO, while maintaining a direct relationship with the RiverStone Health Foundation Board of Directors. The nature of the work performed requires the incumbent to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of the RiverStone Health Foundation Board, President & CEO of RiverStone Health, employees of RiverStone Health, the RiverStone Health marketing and communications team, all media sources, other community agencies, and a diverse group of stakeholders across the local community.
Essential Functions/Major Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Director of Development 75%
  • Serve as Director of Development for RiverStone Health & RiverStone Health Foundation, primarily responsible for fundraising and stewarding relationships with philanthropic supporters to financially support RiverStone Health in the execution of its mission and strategic objectives.
  • Work in collaboration with the RiverStone Health Foundation Board and RiverStone Health's CEO to execute the vision, strategic planning, financial management, foundation administrative services, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Oversee all facets of the daily operations of RiverStone Health Foundation ensuring compliance with the RiverStone Health Foundation state and federal laws, policies and regulations for a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization.
  • Monitor all donor information within database tools and provide and present narrative reports to organizational leaders as requested.
  • Support RiverStone Health Foundation Board members and working committees.
  • Monitor and evaluate internal and external programmatic and operational effectiveness, and effect changes required for improvement.
  • Represent RiverStone Health Foundation to media, government agencies, individual donors, funding agencies and a wide array of individuals within the local community.
  • Oversee the planning and coordination of fundraising activities including media relations, capital campaigns, endowment campaigns, direct mail campaigns, and special events to ensure that fundraising efforts are integrated and consistent with RiverStone Health Foundation's overall mission, goals and objectives.
  • Identify prospects for solicitation and provide stewardship activities to individuals, corporations, foundations and other entities in support of planned giving, capital needs and endowments.
  • Research and solicit diverse funding sources and develop relationships with philanthropic organizations and individuals.
  • Works closely with RiverStone Health Grant Program Administrator to help develop and submit grants and program budgets, when necessary.
  • Create and initiate effective marketing activities for promoting planned giving, capital needs, endowments and other long-range funding activities.
  • Compile and maintain records and statistics of project and program activities, and complete internal and funding-source required reports.
  • In close coordination with the RiverStone Health CFO, manages RiverStone Health Foundation budget and adjusts expenditures to ensure adequate cash flow with the goal of being a self-sustaining Foundation.
  • Address concerns or questions relating to RiverStone Health Foundation operations and take appropriate measures to ensure an expedient resolution.
  • Accurately inform RiverStone Health Foundation Board, RiverStone Health CEO, the RiverStone Health Board of Health, RiverStone Health Clinic Board and other stakeholders, regarding work progress, problems, and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing key issues.
  • Attends Foundation and RiverStone Health organizational meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions; review publications and audiovisual materials to become and remain current on principles, practices, and new developments that are applicable to the position.
  • Communicate and coordinate regularly with others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of RiverStone Health Foundation's operations and activities.
  • Proactively work to position the board to make effective and efficient decisions that best serve the needs of RiverStone Health.
  • Participates, as necessary, in annual third party audit of financial statements.

B. Supervision and Leadership Responsibilities 20%
  • Direct the work of Foundation staff and/or Foundation volunteers, reviewing and approving time sheets.
  • Provide professional development, training, and support for assigned staff.
  • Work in collaboration with Human Resources when hiring, and onboarding; encountering behavior, performance, or reliability issues; and when staff request extended leave or work accommodations.
  • Complete regular performance appraisals; handle employee relations incidents in a timely manner.
  • Keep current on best supervision practices through research and training, ensuring compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
Non-Essential Functions/Other duties as assigned ≥5%
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of RiverStone Health's mission and goals.
Education and Experience:
Minimum Qualifications
  • Five years of experience in non-profit leadership and/or philanthropic organizations
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Any combination of experience and training which provide the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE)
  • Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) membership
  • Experience with planned giving, including but not limited to deferred gift annuities

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
  • Work is mainly performed on a computer and in the office setting.
  • Frequent local travel is necessary to meet with donors and community partners
  • Flexible work schedules and hybrid work-from-home arrangements may be made based on performance of job duties
  • Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, other vehicles, etc. Travel occurs in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Create and maintain a safe/secure working environment by adhering to safety, security, and health requirements. Integrates injury, illness, and loss prevention into job activities by attending any necessary training and implementing best practices.
