Located on a beautifully landscaped 27-acre medical campus at 19339 Benn's Grant Boulevard in Smithfield, the new hospital provides modern facilities and comprehensive medical services to meet the growing needs of the community.

The 200,000-square-foot, three-story facility offers a range of essential healthcare services including an Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging Services, 38 Medical/Surgical beds, 12 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and 4 Operating Rooms. Overview
Works under the supervision of the Nurse manager and the Director and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the total nursing care of assigned patients. The RN may work in a variety of settings in the Critical Care/Telemetry Complex and roles within Riverside Health System. The RN utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making to create a care plan for each patient based on physiological, psychosocial and cultural diversity. Responsible for supervising and delegating non-professional personnel working directly with him/her to ensure optimum patient care. Must demonstrate competence in dealing with age related needs of the specific patient populations served in the Critical Care/Telemetry units/departments. Works under the direction of leadership and a multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive range of services or clinical care associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Health system and facility goals and strategic plans.
What you will do

  • Demonstrates ability to assess patient clinical ands psychosocial needs by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population served in the Critical Care/Telemetry units/departments (see unit specific competencies and equipment checklists).
  • Partners with patients and families to develop, implement and evaluate plan of care, treatments and procedures that contribute to the physiological and psychosocial outcomes of the patient. Assesses and incorporates evidence-based standards of practice. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team in the coordination care. Facilitates safe patient transitions to the next care setting as part of plan of care.
  • Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations and ability to modify education method to ensure patient/family comprehension. Educates by assuming responsibility to individualize and coordinate patient education, and discharge specific education that includes family/caregiver. Evaluates for patient comprehension and documents.
  • Ability to delegate and prioritize tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and ensure patient care needs are met. Able to recognize and respond to emergency situations. Evaluates own needs for support and uses identified systems to meet need.
  • Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput to assure patients receive consistent, competent, and ethical care. Focuses on quality outcomes of patient care when addressing customer's needs to include current evidence based practice and quality measures.


Qualifications
Education

  • Nursing Degree required - ADN, BSN, or MSN. (Required)

Experience

  • Critical care experience (Preferred)


Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) (Required)
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required)
  • ACLS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required within 90 days of start)
