ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Sales Coordinator is vital to Knife River Corporation's business growth strategy, acting as the primary liaison between the company and its external ready-mix concrete customers. The role combines sales coordination proficiency, administrative and financial acumen, technical knowledge, and customer service supporting the company's success. Responsibilities include communicating with existing and prospective new customers, maintaining relationships, providing product solutions, administering sales process workflows, order management, documentation review and inside sales support. The position demands strong working relationships with team members, outside sales, dispatch, administration, leadership, customers, and contractors. Success is enhanced by self-motivation, a business growth mindset and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
The typical schedule Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Saturdays are rare.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)
Inside Sales Support
  1. Serve as a key link between customers, sales representatives, dispatch, and production to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
  2. Act as the primary customer contact, responding to inquiries regarding ready mix concrete products, including pricing, availability, and delivery schedules.
  3. Prepare and issue accurate quotes and proposals in alignment with company pricing strategies for public and private projects
  4. Coordinate workflow with the Sales Manager to support account management and project execution
  5. Support the sales team with lead generation, follow up activities, and opportunity tracking
  6. Maintain accurate customer account information and document all interactions and sales activities within the CRM system
  7. Track material backlog, sales volumes, and revenue using company systems and reporting tools
  8. Assist in resolving customer concerns to ensure satisfaction and repeat business
  9. Coordinate daily with sales and dispatch teams to prioritize orders and support key projects
  10. Participate in sales training and support field sales through administrative tasks including quoting, billing adjustments, ticket editing, volume reporting, and project submittals.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.
Market Development and Customer Relations
  1. Support Knife River's market presence and expansion by identifying potential customers across commercial, residential, agriculture, infrastructure, and industrial sectors.
  2. Generate and follow up on sales leads to identify new opportunities and maintain existing relationships.
  3. Use project lead generation, reporting tools, permit agencies, trade associations, and customer involvement to develop leads.
  4. Maintain ongoing communication with stakeholders and assist customers in selecting appropriate products.
  5. Maintain current product knowledge, industry trends, and competitor knowledge.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (types and extent of knowledge, skills or abilities an incumbent must possess to complete the job responsibilities satisfactorily)
  1. Strong sales acumen, financially proficient, and a results-driven mindset.
  2. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, particularly in fast paced environments.
  3. Technical proficiency in company products and ability to interpret drawings, project specifications, proposals, and contracts.
  4. Problem-solving skills to address challenges internally and externally.
  5. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ERP systems, CRM, and quoting tools.
  6. Organizational skills including time management, and administrative accuracy.
  7. Teamwork orientation.
  8. Accurate daily logging and routine report writing.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements)
  1. 2 to 5 years of inside sales experience, sales coordination, administration or customer service, preferably in construction products or heavy industry. Bulk construction materials such as aggregate, concrete products, asphalt, or highway/infrastructure industry experience is a plus.
  2. Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, engineering, or related field, or equivalent industry experience preferred

The salary is $22.00 - $27.00, depending on experience.
