Job description

The Worldwide Logistics Insurance group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Risk Specialist I to support insurance project initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team in a huge growth area for Amazon. Amazon is looking for a Risk Specialist that has a background in transportation, risk management, and data-driven problem resolution skills. In this role, the Risk Specialist will continuously work with stakeholders to build trust-based relationships in order to support insurance programs and vendor performance while creating long-term, systemic solutions for a world-class customer experience. The Risk Specialist will be responsible for a wide range of duties related to new initiatives and performance reporting.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting process improvement efforts and understand how to contribute to program design and implementation activities. They will support a growing and evolving insurance program by maintaining project documentation and driving implementation activities across the portfolio. They will use data and metrics to track program performance, surface trends, and support recommendations for enhancements as needed to improve our ability to scale. They will be comfortable communicating findings and escalation details clearly to team leads and cross-functional partners through strong written and verbal communication skills.
Key job responsibilities
Provide data analysis and conduct investigations.
Pull data from numerous databases (using Excel, SQL, and/or other databases) to perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed.
Identify and help minimize risk posed by program patterns and trends.
Systematically escalate problems or variances in data to the relevant owners and teams.
Work within various time constraints to meet critical business needs while measuring and identifying activities performed.
Create narratives outlining weekly findings and variances to goals, and present findings in a review forum.
Apply risk management best practices to mitigate issues, identify operational inefficiencies, and improve processes.
Define SOPs, document new methods for program and vendor performance, and partner with stakeholders to drive gaps to closure.
Partner with cross-functional teams across Amazon for collaboration.
Participate in ad-hoc projects and assignments as necessary.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of program management, logistics, operations, supply chain, transportation, or related field experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel at an intermediate level, including: pivot tables, vlookup, index/match, conditional formatting, and data visualization
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience using data to drive root cause elimination and process improvement
- Experience working with large datasets, determining trends/patterns which can be used for value decisions
- Experience with reporting and Data Visualization tools such as Quick Sight / Tableau / Power BI or other BI packages

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
