About the Job:

Under the guidance of the VP, Risk Management, the Enterprise Risk Officer supports the development, administration, and ongoing execution of the Bank’s Enterprise Risk Management program. The position is responsible for day-to-day oversight of assigned risk management activities and serves as a key partner to business lines in identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating risk. The Enterprise Risk Officer coordinates enterprise risk assessments, operational risk management, risk reporting, issue remediation, emerging risk monitoring, and other risk management activities. The position provides independent second line oversight.

This position is $80,000 to $95,000;Starting pay determined based on candidate’s qualifications and experience.

This position is Full Time, 40 hours weekly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties May be Assigned):

Supports the implementation, enhancement, and ongoing maintenance of the Bank’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework by coordinating enterprise-wide risk assessments and maintaining the risk taxonomy and assessment methodology. Monitors risk exposures against established risk appetite and tolerance levels, identifies emerging and interconnected risks, escalates significant risk issues, and maintains documentation supporting the Bank’s risk governance framework. Partners with business lines to promote effective risk management practices and support enterprise risk reporting for management and the Board.

Manages the day-to-day operational risk management program by coordinating operational risk assessments, monitoring operational incidents, losses, near misses, recurring issues and develops and maintains Key Risk Indicators (KRIs). Identifies trends and control weaknesses, partners with business lines to determine root causes and implement corrective actions, and monitors remediation efforts to ensure timely resolution while escalating overdue or ineffective actions to management.

Monitors internal and external developments to identify new and evolving risks that could impact the Bank and coordinates periodic emerging risk discussions with business lines. Maintains the emerging risk inventory and tracking process, researches potential business impacts, supports the development of risk assessment and management responses, escalates significant emerging risks, and assists in preparing emerging risk reporting for management and the Board.

  • Risk Reporting and Issue Remediation Management

Prepares recurring risk reporting and analytics for management by maintaining risk dashboards and monitoring Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), risk appetite metrics, operational incidents, open issues, and remediation activities. Analyzes risk trends, identifies significant changes and root causes, and develops actionable reporting that highlights risk implications and management responses. Maintains risk issue and corrective action inventory, tracks regulatory, audit, and risk management issues, monitors remediation plans and milestones, validates the effectiveness of remediation efforts, escalates overdue or high-risk issues, and provides ongoing status reporting to management.

  • Business Continuity and Operational Resilience

Supports risk oversight of the business continuity and operational resilience programs by reviewing business continuity policies, documents, testing, tracking identified gaps and remediation activities, monitoring risks associated with critical business processes, systems, third-party vendors, and operational dependencies. Assist in evaluating the Bank’s ability to withstand, respond to, and recover from operational disruptions.

  • Policy Governance

Oversees the Bank’s enterprise policy governance program by coordinating the development, review, approval, and maintenance of all Bank policies to ensure they remain current, consistent with the Bank’s risk profile, and aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Maintains policy governance documentation and tracking and coordinates the implementation of policy changes resulting from regulatory guidance, examination findings, audit recommendations, and internal risk assessments.

  • Regulatory Examination and Audit Support

Supports management during regulatory examination and independent audits by coordinating information requests. Tracks regulatory findings through remediation and maintains documentation demonstrating effective risk oversight and governance.

  • Risk Culture and Business Partnership

Promotes a strong risk culture throughout the Bank by fostering risk management responsibilities, coordinating risk management training and education, and building collaborative relationships with business lines. Provides risk guidance while maintaining second line independence, encourages timely identification and escalation of emerging issues. Fosters a collaborative approach to risk management by supporting business lines in managing their risks while providing independent oversight, guidance, and effective challenge.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Experience with enterprise risk management, performing risk assessments, and evaluating controls.

Education and Work Experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Accounting, or related discipline, or equivalent experience, is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in banking, risk management, internal audit, compliance, operations, or a related financial services field.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

This position is in an office environment, which means the physical surroundings are generally pleasant and comfortable with minimal exposure to injury or other hazards, with a moderate level of noise. Prolonged periods of sitting and looking at a computer screen with freedom of movement on a regular basis is expected. Minimal physical effort is required but could include: repetitive motion of wrists and fingers; talking and hearing; and handling of light materials and supplies.
