Project Manager – Capital Markets

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager – Capital Markets to lead the successful delivery of complex business and technology initiatives within a fast-paced financial services environment. This role will be responsible for managing projects that support trading operations, risk management, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and enterprise transformation efforts.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of capital markets, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and a proven track record of delivering cross-functional projects from initiation through implementation. This individual will collaborate closely with business leaders, operations teams, technology partners, and external vendors to ensure successful project outcomes while maintaining alignment with strategic business objectives.


Responsibilities


Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead projects through the complete project lifecycle including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, resource allocations, and status reporting.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet defined quality standards.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively manage risks, issues, dependencies, and scope changes.
  • Facilitate project governance activities and prepare executive-level status updates.


Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with business, operations, compliance, risk, and technology teams to drive project success.
  • Serve as the primary point of coordination between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams.
  • Facilitate meetings, workshops, steering committees, and decision-making sessions.
  • Build strong relationships and maintain stakeholder alignment throughout project execution.


Capital Markets Initiatives

  • Manage projects supporting capital markets functions and related business operations.
  • Lead transformation initiatives involving process improvement, platform modernization, automation, and system enhancements.
  • Coordinate activities involving trade processing, settlement workflows, regulatory reporting, risk management, and operational efficiencies.
  • Support strategic business initiatives, integrations, and organizational change efforts.


Risk, Compliance & Governance

  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate project risks and dependencies.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, governance standards, audit requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain project documentation and support audit readiness efforts.
  • Escalate critical issues and provide recommendations for resolution.


Change Management

  • Develop communication strategies and change management plans to support project adoption.
  • Coordinate training activities, user readiness efforts, and stakeholder communications.
  • Assess business process impacts and facilitate smooth operational transitions.
  • Promote adoption of new processes, systems, and capabilities.


Vendor & Technology Coordination

  • Collaborate with external vendors, consultants, and technology partners.
  • Coordinate testing activities including User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and implementation planning.
  • Support system integration, deployment, and post-implementation stabilization efforts.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise technology standards and strategic objectives.


Required Qualifications


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Information Systems, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and professional experience may be considered.


Experience

  • 5+ years of project management experience within financial services, banking, capital markets, or a related industry.
  • Experience managing large-scale, cross-functional projects involving business and technology stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success delivering projects with multiple workstreams and complex dependencies.
  • Experience leading transformational business initiatives and process improvement efforts.


Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of capital markets operations, financial products, and transaction lifecycles.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements impacting financial services organizations.
  • Experience working with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project delivery methodologies.
  • Strong reporting, documentation, and project governance capabilities.


Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced degree in a related discipline.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
