TrueNorth is seeking three Insurance Interns to rotate through our Risk Management, Transportation, and Employee Benefits divisions. This role will learn alongside our seasoned colleagues by attending client visits, marketing new and renewal business, drafting reports, and much more! Selected interns will automatically be enrolled in the Iowa Economic Development Authority's ‘Insure Your Future’ program, providing networking opportunities with interns from other companies and insights from industry leaders.

Our internship program is an 11-week paid program, running May 17th – July 30th 2027. This position will be fully on site in our Cedar Rapids, IA office. Housing will be provided for those who do not have housing for the summer months in Cedar Rapids.

As an Insurance Intern within in these divisions, you will:

  • Gain exposure to risk analysis and contribute to risk strategy development for actual clients
  • Shadow various roles across divisions to gain a well-rounded perspective on all aspects of client service
  • Assist with marketing efforts for new and renewal business
  • Sit in on client meetings to gain real-world experience with the client-facing side of benefits administration and risk management
  • Help prepare client presentations and stewardship reports
  • Build and maintain relationships with insurance carriers
  • Support the servicing of clients across Employee Benefits, Commercial Lines, and Personal Lines
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and seek out opportunities to contribute to different teams

Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Current Freshman or Sophomore Status
  • Pursuing education in Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Genuine interest in the insurance industry
  • Proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and prioritizing tasks
  • Resourceful in finding solutions and learning new skills
  • Eager to take initiative and drive progress without constant direction
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite; specifically, Excel
