Rise Robotics information

What is Rise Robotics?

Rise Robotics is a company specializing in the development of advanced mechanical actuation systems, primarily targeting industrial and heavy machinery markets. They are known for their innovative electric linear actuators, which are designed to replace traditional hydraulic systems in equipment such as loaders, excavators, and other heavy-duty machines. By offering more efficient, environmentally friendly, and precise motion control solutions, Rise Robotics aims to modernize and improve the performance of machinery used in construction, manufacturing, and other industries.

What types of projects do engineers typically work on at Rise Robotics, and how does cross-functional collaboration play a role?

Engineers at Rise Robotics are often involved in developing advanced robotic actuators and motion systems, which requires close collaboration with teams in mechanical design, electronics, and software. Projects usually involve rapid prototyping, iterative testing, and integration of new technologies. Cross-functional teamwork is essential, as engineers regularly coordinate with product managers, manufacturing teams, and quality assurance to ensure that designs meet both technical specifications and user needs. This collaborative environment not only fosters innovation but also offers valuable learning and career growth opportunities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a robotics engineer at Rise Robotics, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Robotics Engineer, you need a solid background in mechanical or electrical engineering, robotics, and programming, often supported by a relevant degree. Experience with CAD software, control systems, and programming languages like Python or C++ is typically required, along with knowledge of prototyping tools. Strong problem-solving abilities, creativity, and effective collaboration skills help you develop innovative robotic solutions. These skills are crucial for successfully designing, building, and refining advanced robotic systems in a dynamic, technology-driven environment.

What is the difference between Rise Robotics vs Robotics Technician?

AspectRise RoboticsRobotics Technician
Required CredentialsTypically a degree in robotics, engineering, or related fieldAssociate's or bachelor's degree in robotics, electronics, or mechanical engineering
Work EnvironmentResearch labs, manufacturing facilities, or automation companiesIndustrial settings, maintenance shops, or manufacturing plants
Industry UsageDesign, development, and testing of robotic systemsInstallation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of robotic equipment

Rise Robotics generally focuses on designing and developing robotic systems, requiring advanced technical skills and engineering knowledge. Robotics Technicians primarily handle the installation, maintenance, and repair of robots in industrial environments. Both roles are essential in the robotics industry but differ in their focus and responsibilities.

Job description

Senior Manufacturing Test Engineer, Robotics

About Mytra:

Weโ€™re creating an entirely new way to solve the most ubiquitous problem in industry - moving and storing material. Weโ€™re applying robotics and distributed software to create a new class of product for this $1T market. Weโ€™re focused on the supply chain industry first. The industry is in a massive bind with the continued growth of e-commerce, sharp rise in costs, and supply chain disruptions. What has been a โ€œsleepyโ€ industry for decades is now at the epicenter of sustaining the global economy.

As a Senior Manufacturing Test Engineer at Mytra, you will join our Manufacturing Engineering team during a period of rapid scaling. Our team is currently focused on scaling manufacturing processes and translating engineering designs into robust production systems, and we need a handsโ€‘on, analytical specialist to help us architect comprehensive test strategies, improve firstโ€‘pass yield, and ensure every robot leaving our facility operates flawlessly in demanding warehouse environments.

What youโ€™ll do:
  • Architect & Optimize Test Coverage: Assess manufacturing test coverage, identify quality risks, and design strategic plans for upstream, inโ€‘line test stations to significantly boost endโ€‘ofโ€‘line firstโ€‘pass yields.
  • Develop Automated Test Infrastructure: Design and build automated test stations by pairing mechatronics expertise with Pythonโ€‘based automation to create scalable, reliable testing infrastructure for complex robotic systems.
  • Manage Manufacturing Data Systems: Define data collection requirements and implement robust data management solutions to track testing metrics, support statistical process control, and drive continuous quality improvement.
  • Drive Quality & System Bringโ€‘up: Own endโ€‘ofโ€‘line testing operations and system bringโ€‘up procedures, utilizing root cause analysis and failure mode identification to resolve quality issues alongside crossโ€‘functional engineering teams.
Ideal Candidates
  • Have proven experience with automated test station design, Python programming for test automation, mechatronics development, and hardware test frameworks (e.g., Python, LabVIEW).
  • Understand endโ€‘ofโ€‘line testing processes, system bringโ€‘up procedures, manufacturing data systems, statistical process control, and dataโ€‘driven quality methodologies for complex electroโ€“mechanical systems or robotics.
  • Demonstrate openness, inquisitiveness, constant ambition, and a willingness to embrace uncertainty, recognize mistakes, and pivot quickly.
  • Have 5+ years of experience in manufacturing test engineering, ideally with complex electroโ€“mechanical systems, robotics, or warehouse automation equipment in production environments.
  • Excel at crossโ€‘functional collaboration with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software engineering teams to ensure manufacturing readiness and effectively communicate technical findings.
Nice to have:
  • Direct experience designing and deploying automated test stations specifically for warehouse automation or mobile robotics platforms.
  • Experience setting up endโ€‘toโ€‘end manufacturing test data pipelines and automated reporting dashboards.
  • Strong background in software engineering best practices applied to manufacturing test scripts and hardwareโ€‘inโ€‘theโ€‘loop (HIL) automation.
A Final Note:

At Mytra, we build bots, but we hire humans. We value thoughtful challengers who communicate with clarity and respect, and weโ€™re lifelong learners committed to getting better every day. We move fast, learn faster, and show up for each other under pressure. The best outcomes come from diverse perspectives working together to build something meaningful and built to last

Benefits Include:
  • Competitive compensation and equity grants at a highโ€‘growth company backed by topโ€‘tier VCs
  • Fully subsidised health coverage, including medical (baseline plans), dental, and vision for employees and dependents
  • 401(k) plans and employerโ€‘subsidised life insurance
  • Fully subsidised lunch and snacks at HQโ€”we eat and share stories together at the โ€œlongโ€ table
  • Generous PTO and companyโ€‘paid holidays, including one week over the winter break so everyone can recharge together
  • Voluntary pet insurance, Voluntary Life Insurance, Accident, Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity
  • Fully subsidised tax advisory services and education to help you understand your equity
  • Commuter benefits, including a up to $150 monthly commuter benefit
  • Lively, modern combined office and lab space where we rapidly iterate through design, build, and test phases
  • Fully equipped onsite gym and showers at headquarters
Pay Notice

Compensation for this position will be set based on the candidate's experience level and location. The posted salary band is applicable only to the San Francisco Bay Area and is subject to change.

This role requires onโ€‘site presence at our Brisbane, CA headquarters, for close collaboration with the other teams.

The pay range for this role is:

135,000 - 160,000 USD per year (Mytra, Inc.)
