Job description

Pre-Press Specialist

Location: McCordsville, IN

Position Summary
Awning Innovations is seeking a detail-oriented Pre-Press Specialist to prepare and optimize files for large-format print production. This role focuses on reviewing engineering-provided artwork, ensuring files are production-ready, maximizing material usage through nesting, and supporting efficient print-and-cut workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Review and adjust print files for accuracy, scale, resolution, color profiles, cut paths, and production readiness
  • Prepare files for print-and-cut production using Adobe Illustrator, Flexi, and Fiery RIP software
  • Optimize layouts and nest jobs to reduce material waste and improve efficiency
  • Operate roll-to-roll vinyl cutters and support production setup
  • Inspect files and finished products to ensure quality standards are met
  • Track material usage and communicate inventory needs
  • Work closely with Engineering and Production teams to identify and resolve file issues
  • Help improve workflow processes and reduce production errors
  • Provide technical support and training to team members as needed

Qualifications

  • Advanced experience with Adobe Illustrator
  • Experience using Flexi and Fiery RIP software
  • Strong understanding of print production and print-and-cut workflows
  • Experience operating vinyl cutters and related equipment
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the sign, graphics, or print industry
  • Knowledge of color management and wide-format printing
  • Previous leadership or team lead experience
